Sicily Region is a government office that takes care of promotion of foreign trade, supervision of sector bodies and cooperatives, support for sicilian companies, research and innovation
A story which began in the seventies with about twenty hectares of vineyards located in the hills north-east of the small village of Campobello di Licata, in the Agrigento area. A family company, built by passionate winemakers. Giuseppina Milazzo, her husband Saverio Lo Leggio and their son Giuseppe, all grown up in the winery, have been running the winery for more than eleven years.
Today the vineyards extend for 97 hectares, located on a hilly area at about 400 meters above sea level and 20 km from the sea, in an area called Terre della Baronia, which is characterized by a significant variety of soils, to which correspond equally varied microclimatic conditions. Terre della Baronia area comprehends 8 districts (contrade), splitted into several sub-areas, offering a perfect combination between soil and position, microclimate and grape variety.
Milazzo chose to focus its production on autochthonous varieties such as: Nero d'Avola, Perricone and Nerello Cappuccio for the red; Inzolia and Catarratto Lucido for the whites; to which are added some selected international varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Pinot Noir. Pioneer in the introduction of organic farming, started this path since the mid 1980's. It was the first to experiment Traditional Method Sparkling Wine production in Sicily. The philosophy that guides Azienda Agricola G. Milazzo has always been that of an artisanal viticulture, based on the knowledge of the land, of the vine, of manual workmanship and creativity in interpreting these elements, together with the ability to exploit the best characteristics of climate and soil. A palmares of more than 600 awards in the main international oenological competitions, with a significant amount of gold medals awarded to the whole range of wines produced.
Centopassi is the winemaking entity of the Libera Terra cooperatives, which cultivate land confiscated from the mafia in Sicily.
The vineyards are distributed in the Alto Belice Corleonese, an area where nature dominates, with overwhelming beauty, unmistakable horizons, and unforgettable sunsets.
The wines reflect the diversity of each vineyard, the soils that distinguish them, and the vines that, from time to time, enhance their characteristics.
Alto Belice Corleonese is a territory particularly suited to the production of high-quality wines. Open, uncontaminated scenarios, with limestone peaks that emerge on a plateau with a very high average altitude, make this corner of the Mediterranean a perfect place for optimal vine growth.
Thermal excursions, winds, the composition of the soil, and the symbiosis achieved with the vines we have selected lead to ideal starting conditions, far removed from many stereotypes related to Sicilian wines. Here, elegance is the master, the flavor is omnipresent, and the maximum smoothness of the wines guides every smallest decision, from the painstaking care of the vineyards to processes that always tend to emphasize the freshness and expressiveness of the fruity components.
Crus come from specific parts of our vineyards, with characteristics made to exalt the qualities of each variety. They are our way of interpreting the territory, the tradition, the vine. They are wines that mature slowly and which, when bottled, all have great qualities of longevity.
Giato wines are the result of only the most representative native grapes of western Sicily and derive their name from the ancient district that surrounded the wonderful Greek theater on Monte Jato. A place that dominates the valley of the river of the same name, the Belice plateau, and the most important nucleus of the Centopassi vineyards.
Placido Rizzotto wines contain the soul of the Centopassi project. They come from almost all the vineyards available and best describe our approach and our style. We are proud of them because they are a beautiful demonstration of how very high quality can be achieved even with large quantities and, above all, at a particularly accessible price level.
Cottanera is a family owned winery. 65 hectares of vinetards growing Nerello Nascalese and Carricante vines.
Feudo Disisa is located at the heart of north-western Sicily, into Monreale’s territory sited in the province of Palermo, among the Belice and Jato valleys. The vineyard’s comprehensive 400 hectares of soil - whose 150 are cultivated with grapes and 90 with olives – spread over the typical DOC Monreale’s terroir made of slopes and graceful hills with an altitude between 350 and 500 meters above sea level. Only the best grapevine varieties end up to be cultivated, both autochthonous ones like Perricone, Nero d’Avola, Grillo, Catarratto, Inzolia, both international, such as Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay. Main destined-to-oil olive cultivations are Cerasuola, Nocellara and Biancolilla. The origins of the estate are rooted in the norman period (XII century), when King William II gave this land in gift to Monreale’s Archbishop. Disisa comes from arabian “AZIZ” which means “wonderful”, one term that describes well the marvellous landscapes of “Conca D’Oro”, the valley of Palermo, the sicilian main town. Di Lorenzo family, owner of the estate since two centuries – managed to put together ancient tradition and avant-garde technology, while testing the fittest cultivations for the specifical microclimate conditions of this territory and turning, with passion, dedication and effort, these old pastures and orchards into lush vineyards and olive groves.
Gambino, surrounded by the Etna Regional Park, is located in the small town of Linguaglossa, on the northeastern slope of Europe's most active volcano, at about 900 meters above sea level.
The winery was founded in 1978, over forty years ago, by Vittorio Raciti and Maria Gambino, who are considered pioneers as they were among the first to reintroduce Etnean viticulture—an ancient tradition—on this side of the volcano and at such altitudes (we are among the highest vineyards on Mount Etna).
We enjoy a unique position, with a breathtaking view—highlighted by the prestigious National Geographic—between Taormina and Mount Etna.
Our vineyards, facing both northeast and east, are located between Randazzo and Piedimonte Etneo, with our historic headquarters in Linguaglossa, in the Contrada Petto Dragone district.
We grow native grape varieties typical of this area: Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Catarratto.
The family has also invested in the construction of an underground winery, designed to have a low environmental impact and to ensure optimal winemaking conditions, where traditional vineyard practices meet cutting-edge, modern equipment.
For many years now, the company has also chosen to invest in central and western Sicily, where we grow other indigenous grape varieties such as Grillo, Moscato di Alessandria, and Nero d’Avola.
Our story is deeply rooted in the history of the land and the value of its people. As innovators also in the field of hospitality—a sector we've dedicated significant resources to since the early 2000s—we believe in the power of an authentic and honest narrative to share our Sicilian Wine Story.
Custodire means preserving the land, maintaining traditions, and respecting the
culture of a place. These values guide the winery and form the foundation of its
vision for winemaking. The vines are cultivated in the traditional 'alberello' system,
exclusively using autochthonous varieties, while the cellar is entirely designed with a
focus on environmental sustainability. The vineyards are located in the areas most
suited for viticulture on Mount Etna, with the goal of conserving them for future
generations in the same way they were passed down by those who previously cared
for them. The winery owns vineyards on different slopes of the "Muntagna," striving
to enhance the unique qualities of the territory.
Since 1898, Nicosia. A family with an ardent passion for Sicilian wine handed down from father to son for five generations. Tenute Nicosia, a winery with solid roots in the Etna wine culture and a love for rural traditions combined with a relentless search for new horizons embedded into its DNA.
Tenute Nicosia is a dynamic, modern and efficient wine company that looks towards the future, but without forgetting tradition. It is headed by Carmelo Nicosia, assisted by his sons Francesco and Graziano and a close-knit team of young people such as enologist Maria Carella, who fully interpret the company spirit. Promoting the best winegrowing areas in Sicily while fully respecting the environment, by selecting the best grapes and lavishing enormous care on work in the cellar. A long and exciting path towards quality, in order to produce wines that represent the finest in Sicilian enology.
The wines of Tenute Nicosia selections are a tribute to the heart of Sicily. They embody the light and warmth of its Mediterranean climate, the strength and generosity of its people, and the untamed and exuberant character of the Etna volcano that has both powerful nature and regenerative strength at the same time. A large collection of Sicilian wines produced with grapes grown in accordance with the most advanced rules of sustainable viticulture in the company’s vineyards of Mount Etna, Vittoria (Ragusa) and Noto (Siracusa) from precious grape varieties that find the ideal terroir on this Island, with expressions of rare excellence and absolute innovation.
Valle dell’Acate is a historic wine estate in the Vittoria area, in the heart of eastern Sicily, run by the Jacono family, who have been active in viticulture for six generations. The winery stands out for its distinctive production philosophy, rooted in the interpretation of soils: a mosaic of diverse terroirs that gave rise to the identity-driven project “7 Soils, 7 Wines.”
Each wine is a faithful expression of a single soil, conveyed with precision, respect, and deep knowledge. All vineyards and wines have been certified organic for many years, in keeping with the family’s long-standing philosophy of living in harmony with nature.
The hallmark of Valle dell’Acate’s style is modern Sicilian elegance: light, harmonious, fresh wines with a versatile, highly drinkable profile, aligned with contemporary tastes yet firmly grounded in the agricultural tradition of the Vittoria territory. The estate is widely recognized as one of the most refined interpreters of Frappato and Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG, emblematic wines of identity and finesse.
At the helm of the project is Gaetana Jacono, the contemporary custodian of the family’s history and an authoritative voice who blends wine culture, a modern vision, and profound respect for the land. Her leadership ensures authenticity, continuity, and a coherent expression of the brand’s core values: tradition, research, elegance, and sustainability.
Today, Valle dell’Acate is a benchmark for those seeking Sicilian wines that do not shout, but whisper—wines of balance, place, and nuance. A different way of telling the story of Sicily, through lightness, finesse, and the truth of its soils.
