Grapes: Dolcetto
The wine is aged for 12 months in big barrels of neutral French oak. These are shaped with steam, not fire, a technique that allows for a great movement of oxygen through the material without giving an oaky vanilla flavor to the wine.
The color is a very intense red; the aromas range from fruit to spices — plum and morello cherry, licorice, vanilla, and cocoa. On the palate, it is rich and velvety, with great body and persistence (soft tannins).
It originates from the Corradini hillside (municipality of Farigliano), with vines over 40 years old, facing west and located on a tuff rock cliff overlooking the Tanaro River. The unique microclimate created here gives our Dozzetti wine elegance and longevity. The name Dozzetti comes from the old vernacular term for "Dolcetto." There are documents testifying to the cultivation of this grape on our hills as far back as the 1600s.
Previous vintages have been awarded by Decanter and I Vini di Veronelli.
