The Domaine du Carrubier in La Londe Les Maures (Var) has been a family estate since 1974. It extends on 88 hectares, 25 of which grow fully classified Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée "Côtes de Provence" vines, which nest close to the sea and the Maures hillsides: they very much benefit from this exceptional location, which favours a strong and specific expression in the wines of this specially priviledged soil. Since it has been the family, the Domaine du Carrubier has been run with great attention based on the integrated viticulture approach: not only the vines, but the environment itself have received, year after year, a caring follow-up. The use of the most recent equipments togther with a strict respect of traditional techniques of culture and wine-making can be found in the Domaine du Carrubier: no chemical disbudding, no artificially added grass, but a fertilization which respects the land's own organic equilibria, together with a constant maintenance of a proper drainage capacity and a mechanical cultivation which perpetuates the in-deep rooting of the vinestocks. Grape harvest is done entirely by hand: the grapes are first sorted in the field, their stalks then removed before they go into the vats. The musts are prevented from oxidizing using a specific in-house designed method, and the temperature is under control throughout the wine-making process. All year around, the "Château du Carrubier" wines are managed by our Oenologist Mr. Gilles Baude. Their bottling is entrusted to a renown mobile unit which comes and works inside the Domaine.
The estate La Navicelle stretches across seven kilometres of the Mediterranean coast, nestled between mountain and sea at the foot of the Colle Noire mountain range. Here, our plots unfurl in perfect harmony with lush groves of olive and pine. In this rugged landscape typical of Provence, varieties of Rolle and Clairette grapes bloom mainly for the production of our white wines, while Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Tibouren, and Cinsault furnish our red and rosé vintages. To this day we benefit from twenty-one hectares of vines which are located right in the heart of Provence on the northern aspect of a montain range called La Colle Noire, bordering the protected area of outstanding natural beauty known as the French littoral. Our vines flourish upon terraces of dense clay atop a rocky substrate of limestone, sandstone, and schist. Their northward facing and their proximity to La Colle Noire protect them from the Provencal sun, so allowing us to obtain wines which are at the same time generous, complex, and of a fine minerality with an identity distinctive to their terroir. OUR PHILOSOPHY We have ranged our twenty-one hectares of vines in true respect for the surrounding ecosystem, encompassing all its flora and fauna: since 2014 the Estate has been certified by Agriculture Biologique France (AB), taking biodynamic principles as our fundamental inspiration. This approach, coupled with our deep-seated committment to ecology, naturally gives rise to harmonious wines worthy of the finest terroirs. From the beginning we have sought out excellence as our mission: we have continually re-evaluated our practices and have made substantial investments in order to reach the finest standards of quality. Having long reflected on the ideal method for our work, we routinely scrutinise our approaches to the soil, to the pruning of our vines, to palissage, to plant protection treatments, and to harvesting. We maintain our exacting philosophy of cultivation right up to the moment our wines reach the cellar: this ultra-efficient space is equipped with its own bottling line in order to render the process entirely autonomous.
