Anastasia Fragou winery was established in 1985 by Anastasia's father. In 1999 Anastasia and her husband, joined forces and began to take over the winery with the common vision to modernizing it, as they did over the years.
The winery is located in Rafina Attica, area of the suburbs of Athens, with plenty of vineyards across the regions of Spata, Pikermi and Rafina. Cultivating over 14 hectares, the main varieties produced by the winery are Savvatiano, Malagousia, Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko, Merlot and Syrah. The vineyards of Savvatiano, which is the oldest variety of Attica, were planted by the winemakers' grandfathers about 70 years ago and they are still being cultivated till now. From the first moment of its operation, Anastasia's Fragou winery focuses on the cultivation and promotion of this variety, that through the beauty of its taste nurtured and raised many generations and of course the owners themselves.
The winemakers' goal is the crystal clear taste of their wines to create feelings and images to the consumers, exactly as they create to them, each sip of wine representing the life, history and tradition to their families.

JIMA, Epirus Nobile
At the heart of the JIMA family philosophy lies a simple but profound motto: “Epirus Nobile”. It is both our guiding compass and our promise—an expression of our belief that the noble character of Epirus deserves to be revealed, celebrated, and shared with the world. Our vision is clear: to establish Epirus as a premium wine region in Greece, defined by its purity, its contrasts, and the exceptional wines born from its diverse terroirs.
Epirus is a land sculpted by mountains and seas, ancient rocks and alpine winds. Few regions worldwide offer such dramatic variation in climate, elevation, and soil within such close proximity. This natural diversity inspires our craft and shapes the identity of JIMA wines.
A Region of Distinct Terroirs and Noble Varieties
Ambracian Gulf – Dense Clay & Bold Character
From vineyards near the Arachthos Estuary, at roughly 39°N, the landscape meets the sea. Here, the dense blue clay soils and maritime influence nurture grape varieties that show both depth and elegance. Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and the indigenous Vertzami thrive in these coastal vineyards, producing bold, structured wines with refined tannins and a distinct, saline-driven purity. This is Epirus in its Mediterranean expression—confident, intense, and noble.
Zitsa – The Mountain Heartland of Tradition
Ascending into the Zitsa municipality, at 400–700 meters, the soils shift to metamorphic rock and limestone, offering excellent drainage and mineral richness. This is the historical cradle of Epirus viticulture. Debina, the local white variety, has thrived here for centuries, giving wines of lively acidity and subtle aromatic finesse. Alongside it, Vlahiko, the native red grape, expresses the highland spirit of Epirus with vibrant color, freshness, and an unmistakably local character. These mountain vineyards represent the heritage of Epirus—pure, bright, and timeless.
Konitsa – Alpine Elegance on the Northern Frontier
Further north, near 40°N and the dramatic Aoos–Vikos Geopark, the vineyards of Konitsa unfold in an environment reminiscent of the Alps. Cool climates, sharp diurnal shifts, and rugged soils shape wines of aromatic depth and structural finesse. Here, Gewürztraminer finds a perfect home, delivering expressive floral and spicy profiles. Merlot gains depth and generosity, while Bekari—an Epirus specialty—reveals its full potential, crafting reds that are both aromatic and generous, with an authentic mountain identity. Konitsa embodies the alpine soul of Epirus—pure, expressive, and filled with precision.
The JIMA Family
Behind every vineyard, every barrel, and every bottle lies the dedication of the JIMA family. Panos, the winemaker, was born in the Epirus capital, Ioannina, and carries the region deep in his identity. A Chemist specialized in Enology, he holds a Master of Science, has authored scientific publications in wine technology, and is both a WSET Diploma holder and a certified WSET Level 3 Educator. His passion for excellence led him to spend a year in the Master of Wine educational program, traveling across many of the world’s most significant wine regions to deepen his understanding of global terroir. At his side is his wife, Kristy, a paediatrician whose compassion, vitality, and love for life mirror her passion for wine culture. Together, they embody the harmony of science, tradition, and human warmth that defines the JIMA philosophy. Their children, Harry and Andrea, represent the next generation—carrying forward the spark, curiosity, and pride that will guide the future of Epirus Nobile.
Our Emblem: The Stork of the Ambracian Gulf
The JIMA emblem—a stork holding a bunch of grapes—is more than a symbol; it is a story of return, heritage, and belonging. Each summer, storks visit our vineyards in the Ambracian Gulf, walking calmly among the vines as they search for food. Their presence is a gentle reminder of the rhythms of nature and the continuity of life in this landscape.
For our family, the stork embodies the idea of returning to our grandfathers’ land, no matter how far we travel or how much we explore. It carries the memory of past generations and the emotional bond to Kalomodia village—our ancestral homeland. Just as the stork returns each year, we return to our roots, honoring our history while shaping the future of Epirus through wine.
Epirus Nobile: A Legacy in the Making
The JIMA family envisions an Epirus where each terroir, from sea-level clay to mountain limestone to alpine rock, contributes to a collective identity of excellence. Our commitment is not only to produce great wines but to elevate the entire region, showcasing its nobility, diversity, and global potential.
Through sustainable cultivation, careful selection of local and international varieties, and an unwavering respect for nature, we seek to reveal the true nobility of Epirus—its landscapes, its traditions, and its wines.
Epirus Nobile is more than a motto. It is our mission, our heritage, and the future we strive to build.
JIMA, Epirus Nobile
