Co-exhibitor of COMITE INTERPROFESSIONNEL DES VINS D'ALSACE - CIVA
Domaine Jean SIPP is a family estate located in the heart of the Alsatian vineyard, on the most famous wine road, in Ribeauvillé. For 4 generations, all of the vinification and marketing of our wines has been done in a stately home dating from 1416, located in the upper town. Jean-Guillaume took over the reins of the estate in 2014. After his training at the Lycée Agricole de Rouffach, he followed internships with many winegrowers including Domaines Zind-Humbrecht in Alsace, Olivier Leflaive in Burgundy, Marcel Guigal in Ampuis in the Rhône and the Domaine Mont-Redon in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. He also approached other New World vineyards, such as Chile, Argentina, South Africa and New Zealand. Under his leadership, the Estate took on a new impetus. First of all in the vineyards, where he developed the work of the soil and affirmed his commitment to the environment. His efforts were rewarded with HVE certification (High Environmental Value in 2019) and Organic certification in 2021. In the cellar, he vinifies wines that are drier than his ancestors, with great complexity and clockwork precision. He made the choice of parcel vinification, it is following this choice that we saw the appearance of Riesling Grossberg and Riesling Haguenau, but also a dry Pinot Gris Hagel. With his companion, Céline, an oenologist trained in Reims, they developed sparkling wines with the birth of their Cuvée Evidence. They also made the choice to modernize the image of the Estate, in particular thanks to the appearance of new labels. It is thanks to this new generation that the Domaine wishes to be part of a new approach, a new dynamic.
