Château de Saint-Martin Cru Classé in Provence is a lovely 100-hectare estate with 50 hectares of vineyards and a strong, long-standing history. Back in the 1st century BC, the Romans - pioneers of winegrowing in Gaul - founded one of the very first wine-growing estates in France. From the 10th to the 18th century, the Lérins monks turned it into a wine-growing priory, and a superb underground cellar, built in the 12th and 16th century, still in use today. Since 1740, the same family of French nobility has handed the Château down from one generation to the next, and especially from one woman to the next. The only man to have been at the head of Château de Saint-Martin was Count Edme de Rohan-Chabot, a well-known figure in the world of wine. Now, Adeline de Barry, his granddaughter, the current owner of Château de Saint-Martin, wants to share that rich historical past through her wines.
Liquoristerie de Provence’s is a craft distillery owned by her husband Renaud de Barry, whose focus is to bring ancestral recipes up to date and give birth to an authentic pleasure full of meaning and history, perfectly in tune with today’s expectations while respecting earth and plants. 2018 marks Liquoristerie de Provence’s entry into the legacy of a well-known winery: Château de Saint-Martin, a Côtes de Provence “Cru Classé” located in Taradeau in the Var region, which has excelled in quality for centuries. They both share obvious synergies and deep fundamental values. At Liquoristerie de Provence, products are all made from plants macerations and infusions (not synthesized aromas) and that’s what makes the difference!
