Child Company of RHONE VALLEY VINEYARDS
Nestled in the heart of Southern Ardèche, in Bourg-Saint-Andeol, the Domaine des Amoureuses is much more than just a wine estate.
Les Amoureuses is above all the story of a young and creative family estate, born under the impetus of an Ardèche native deeply attached to his region.
On the family estate of Liby, Jean-Pierre Bedel had already started planting vines.
So in 2011, when he visited the Les Amoureuses wine estate with his wife Florence, nestled near the Ardèche gorges, it was love at first sight: the countless facets of these terroirs inspired him. Fascinated for a long time by the depth of the wines of the Ribera del Douero, Jean-Pierre Bedel was convinced that he had the potential here to create great Rhone wines, in the heart of the Ardèche.
Freedom is the watchword of this estate, where we cultivate difference.
The freedom to reveal little-known Ardèche terroirs, with such captivating potential
The freedom to bring to life a life-size estate of 150 hectares in mixed farming, including 70 hectares of certified organic and Demeter vines. With mixed farming as a common thread, the estate produces a beautifully fine oil from 400 centuries-old olive trees; flower honey from 30 hives, mainly located in Libya. Also 80 truffle hazelnut trees and 200 lavenders that ensure the flourishing of bees and biodiversity.
The freedom to work with a range of 20 grape varieties, including Iberian varieties selected to anticipate climate changes.
The estate has nearly 15 red grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Couston, Counoise, Marselan, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Tannat, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, Touriga and Graciano. 5 white grape varieties complete this rich palette, guaranteeing blends full of flavors: Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier, Sauvignon blanc and Sauvignon gris.
Whether or not they are an appellation. But always with high standards; the freedom to share a warm and refined art of living, in a place that is definitely apart.
For its winemaking, the estate also has a tremendous variety of containers: stainless steel vats, 600 oak barrels and demi-muids from the sublime Tronçais forest in Allier, 10-hectoliter tuns, and above all, 66 artisanal 750-liter amphorae from the renowned Italian producer Tava.
The Amoureuses plots are subject to tailor-made monitoring, both to guarantee their fair expression and to ensure the natural balance of the plant. As proof of its investment in ecosystems, the estate obtained the High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3 certification in July 2020. The 2023 harvest marks a turning point in the estate's adventure: that of the double Organic Agriculture certification by Ecocert and Demeter for its work in biodynamics.
In short, the freedom to give free rein to one's creativity.
Like a breath of audacity from Ardèche, which draws the renewal of Rhône wines: refreshing, vibrant and precise expressions.
