Created in 1936 by Eugène AMIRAULT, the estate is located on the right bank of the Loire, the preferred limestone soil of Cabernet Franc.
Taken over in 1977 by his grandson, Yannick AMIRAULT, it has constantly evolved to defend an organic and perfectionist attitude to winegrowing.
Today, it is the great-grandson, Benoit AMIRAULT who cultivates ten crus spread over the villages of Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. Each terroir is gardened according to the lunar cycle, hand-picked and then individually matured for up to 30 months in barrels or amphorae.
And as always, 100 % of our wines are produced with grapes from the estate only (no purchase of grapes)!
J'ai dû attendre 10 ans pour me réaliser."
Take a moment to discover the vines and the wines of our family estate. Our vineyard covers 13 ha. We are certified in organic viticulture for the 2023 vintage.
10 ha are planted with Sauvignon to produce our Menetou-Salon white wine. 3 ha are devoted to Pinot Noir to produce our Menetou-Salon red and rosé wines.
Domaine de Cray is a family property of 70 hectares of vines for an annual production of 500,000 bottles. We have been winegrowers from father to son for 5 generations. The estate is located on the limestone plateaus overlooking the Loire between Tours and Amboise
Winegrowers for 4 generations rooted in Sancerre, we cultivate Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir on an exceptional terroir of flint, limestone, and clay-limestone. Our vineyard covers 35 hectares spread across a mosaic of around 60 parcels in the southeast of Sancerre, along with 6 hectars in Quincy.
Fully aware of the richness and vast geological diversity of our soils, we tend our vines with meticulous care and the utmost respect for the environment: our Sancerre and Quincy wines are certified organic (AB) by Ecocert.
Our wine range includes flagship Loire appellations such as Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Menetou-Salon, Quincy… niche appellations like Châteaumeillant, terroir-driven single-vineyard cuvées such as Sancerre Blanc Pauline (acacia), Sancerre “Cul de Loup,” and “Les Montachins,” as well as great value varietal wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Rosé) classified as Vin de France.
Our work is driven by a passion for growing beautiful grapes (90% of the job) and by our love for superb vineyard parcels — experience does the rest. Our organic approach and certification, nearly inseparable from our parcel-by-parcel philosophy, and the crafting of our wines without sulfites from harvest to the end of aging, all allow us to further reveal the unique personality of each terroir.
Our goal is to express the purest and most sincere form of the terroir. A major selection effort in the vineyard has led to the creation of more sophisticated single-parcel cuvées, such as the renowned “Cul de Loup” and “Les Montachins.”
At the beginning of the century, Lionel Gosseaume created an estate in the heart of the Loire Valley, on the Oisly terroir. It is a renowned terroir reknowned for its high quality Sauvignon Blanc. It produces very aromatic Touraine Blancs, but also the very elegant Touraine-Oisly. His obsession: healthy and ripe grapes, a guarantee of finesse and purity of the wines. Today the estate has around 35 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards 70% of total production is Sauvignon Blanc but Lionel is also lucky enough to have some old vine Gamay, a little excellent Côt (Malbec), Cabernet Franc, Menu Pineau and the rare Meslier St Francois.
The origin of this Domaine goes back to 1677, when Edme Corty laid the foundations of a small Domaine in Pouilly,
Andre Moreux bought his first vines in 1702, but on the other side of the Loire, in Sancerre. Their love of wine would
straddle 300 years of history and descend done through 14 gen-erations! These origins explain the Vignobles Moreux-
Corty being in the Pouilly-Fume appellation in Les Loges, and in Sancerre at Chavignol. 2 magnificent appellations united in
1955 by the marriage of Jeannine Corty and Raymond Moreux, direct descendants of Edme and Andre.
In each of our bottles, you will taste above all a passion, a savoir-faire, a permanent search for the truth, a philosophy where nature is queen, leaving no place for chemicals or commercial yeasts. Our wine is fermented naturally and produced traditionnaly in the greatest respect of the terroirs.
