Georgian wine company Wine Kakheti has installed solar panels at its winery. The total cost of the project amounts to GEL 500,000 and is being implemented with financial support from Bank of Georgia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Within the framework of the project, 360 kW-capacity solar panels have been installed at the winery. The company plans to further expand its solar panel system and gradually transition to alternative energy sources.
Founded in 2017, Wine Kakheti is one of the largest-capacity, state-of-the-art wineries in the region. Equipped with modern technology, the company owns vineyards planted with Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Kakhetian Mtsvane, Kisi, and Khikhvi grape varieties in the finest zones of the Kakheti region. Wine Kakheti employs over 200 people.
“Wine Kakheti has been cooperating with Bank of Georgia for many years, and we have successfully implemented several projects together. With the bank’s support, in 2019 our subsidiary company Vivi planted vineyards, and in 2021 we built a grape-processing facility, equipped warehouse space, and installed storage tanks. We are pleased that the bank continues to support us in our new initiatives, which is confirmed by this third joint project. We are not stopping here and will continue to strengthen our business,” said Levan Zilpimiani, Director of Wine Kakheti.
“Environmental responsibility is an important priority for Bank of Georgia. For many years, we have supported the development of sustainable initiatives and encouraged the replacement of exhaustible resources with alternative solutions. With our support, numerous projects have already been implemented in this direction. We are pleased to cooperate with a socially responsible company such as Wine Kakheti, which clearly understands the importance of environmental care and has launched a new project to transition to alternative energy sources by equipping its winery with solar panels. We have been implementing joint projects since 2019 and are glad to continuously see the company’s commitment to growth and development. We wish the team continued success and will keep supporting new green initiatives,” said Nino Aptsiauri, Head of Corporate Sales at Bank of Georgia.
