Château de l’Hyvernière - Muscadet Loire Valley launches Its Cru Goulaine,

Under the Spell of the Marshlands and the Gentle Imprint of Time

Château de l’Hyvernière will unveil its new Cru Communal Goulaine at Wine Paris, an ambitious and exacting expression of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur lies, following two years of ageing on lees and three additional months of bottle ageing.

Through this wine, the estate reaffirms its commitment to revealing the depth and ageing potential of Melon de Bourgogne. The five-hectare vineyard parcel, classified as Cru Communal Goulaine, is rooted in light soils of gneiss and mica schist with granite inclusions. Overlooking the Goulaine marshlands, the vines benefit from a naturally ventilated and temperate environment, promoting optimal ripeness and a pronounced mineral expression.

This cuvée stands out for its extended twenty-four-month ageing on fine lees. Conducted in stainless steel tanks and concrete egg-shaped vats, the ageing process brings texture, volume and saline precision while preserving the wine’s natural freshness. The absence of malolactic fermentation maintains tension and energy. Here, time acts as a true catalyst for aromatic complexity.

Since 2022, vineyard management has been overseen by Agathe Renault. A graduate in viticulture and oenology, she previously spent seven years at Château Pape Clément, a classified growth in Bordeaux, where she held technical coordination responsibilities. Her rigorous approach and parcel-by-parcel precision now shape the expression of the Goulaine terroir.

The project is guided by consulting oenologist Julien Belle, a recognised specialist in white wines. He crafts wines of remarkable aromatic precision, often bold within their appellation, with a strong focus on oxidation control and purity of expression.

The wine reveals a clear pale yellow colour. The nose opens with mineral notes, white fruits and delicate floral aromas. The palate is generous and silky, structured by vibrant tension and a long saline finish.

With this new Cru Communal Goulaine, Château de l’Hyvernière fully embraces the revival of great terroir-driven Muscadets, combining precision, depth and elegance.
