At Wine Paris, BIBO RUNGE introduces DESERTEUR Grand Zero 2017, its most ambitious alcohol-free wine to date. Produced from 100% Riesling grapes originating from the renowned single vineyard Hallgartener Jungfer, the wine is strictly limited to approximately 1,000 bottles.
The base wine for Grand Zero was selectively hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented, and matured for over one year in large oak barrels before gentle dealcoholisation. This exceptional effort allows the wine to preserve the depth, structure, and elegance of a great Riesling – redefining what is possible in the premium alcohol-free segment.
“Our aim was clear: to prove that alcohol-free wines can reach the same qualitative level as our finest single-vineyard wines – with true origin, craftsmanship, and substance,” says Markus Bonsels, winemaker and Managing Director at BIBO RUNGE.
With DESERTEUR Grand Zero, the winery expands its alcohol-free DESERTEUR range, which has grown steadily since 2020 and now comprises six still and sparkling wines. The range has become one of the most distinctive alcohol-free portfolios in Germany and is increasingly gaining international attention.
A unique highlight presented in Paris is the vineyard-focused approach across styles: BIBO RUNGE now offers a rare comparison from the same origin – Hallgartener Jungfer – including a Grosses Gewächs Riesling, an award-winning Crémant (95 points), and now an alcohol-free interpretation with Grand Zero 2017. A clear statement that premium quality and terroir expression are possible both with and without alcohol.
