ENGLISH
Banfi, a family-owned wine producer, based in Tuscany, is celebrated worldwide as “Builders of Brunello.” The Mariani family, firmly established as leading importers of fine wine in the US, founded their Banfi vineyard estate in Montalcino in 1978.
They assembled a contiguous estate of 2,830 hectares, one-third of the property is under specialized vine, and the balance is shared between olive groves, wheat fields, plum trees, truffle stands, forest, and scrub.
The medieval Poggio alle Mura Castle crowning the estate, part of Banfi estate since 1983, is lovingly restored as a pioneering beacon for regional hospitality.
Just over a year after the founding of Banfi in Montalcino, the Mariani acquired the historic Piedmontese winery Bruzzone, today known as Banfi Piemonte. Since its inception, Banfi Piemonte has undergone constant growth, interspersing an inherent typicity with technological innovation and a distinct vocation for quality sparkling wines.
Recently Banfi has approached new Tuscan territories, among the most renowned in the region, such as Bolgheri, Maremma, Chianti, and Chianti Classico.
Sustainability commitment for Banfi has distant roots. The company initiated its
course of sustainable practices at a time when sustainability was not yet part of the common language by establishing an integrated process taking in high regard three essential factors: each action must be socially fair, environmentally safe and economically feasible at the same time.
In 2021, thanks to the long path undertaken through the numerous sustainable initiatives in the territory where it operates and the publication of the Sustainability Report since 2016, Banfi obtains the Equalitas certification.
Cristina Mariani-May, third family generation, is the CEO of Banfi.

GIV owns fifteen famous cellars, brands known the world over, set in stunning estate vineyards around Italy’s most prestigious growing areas. Cultivation of the finest vines to obtain the best grapes, whose harvest, fermentation and maturing are always supervised by the expert, scrupulous eye of a fruitmaker, a winemaker and a cellar manager.
We are one of the most modern and dynamic wineries in Trentino, both heirs and innovators of an ancient farming tradition. In the countryside we tend to our vineyards with love and respect for the environment and knowledge of the grape varieties’ specific characteristics. In the cellar, this care goes into our harmonious, fragrant and elegant wines. Our history begins in 1904: a first small group of winemakers chose to join together in a cooperative form. Today we are more than 1500 and we represent the backbone of our winery in Trentino: an alliance that allows us to cultivate our vineyards with the utmost care and competence.
Our commitment to sustainability in all the production cycle's phases
Our vineyards are looked after by hand; we use environmentally and health-friendly defence techniques against harm; we recover and reprocess production waste.
Our vineyards in Trentino
We only use Trentino pergolas and cultivate the individual varieties in their natural habitat: two traditional farming choices that enable us to work the grape fields manually, protect the grapes and produce wines with an authentic flavour. Trentino pergolas give the countryside its typical "wave" shape that makes it immediately recognisable and which has inspired the architecture of our winery.
aOur vineyards in Sicily
The vineyards extend over 600 hectares along the southern Sicilian coast, in the two estates of Sambuca di Sicilia and Acate. The vines are autochthonous and international, the varieties are individually selected and cultivated in purity. A well-established team of oenologists and agronomists follows the production of the wines, using advanced technologies.

We have vineyards in the town of Barolo, in the Langhe area, in Roero and in Monferrato Nicese. We have been making wine and aging it in the ancient cellars of Marchesi di Barolo, where we welcome wine lovers who want to taste the history, scents and expressions of this legendary wine, Barolo: the King of Wines, the Wine of Kings.
Today, with Ernesto and Anna, and their children Valentina and Davide, winemaking has been in our family for six generations. After buying the ancient cellars of Marchesi di Barolo in 1929, we have devoted ourselves to the activity that Marchesi Falletti had started at the beginning of the 19th century, as faithful interpreters of the rich diversity of these places, vineyards, and varieties.
Our knowledge of the territory, together with our respect for varietal purity, has increasingly led us to focus on a specific management for each vineyard parcel. It is our winemaking principle to use the grapes separately, in order to keep their characteristics intact.
For the last two centuries, in keeping with the evolution of the grapes and the wine, the spaces have improved, too. They have been partially turned into comfortable rooms where you can taste, savour and, at the same time, immerse yourself in history and culture.
The cellars where we age our wines today are the same where Barolo wine was created thanks to an intuition of Marchesa Giulia Falletti Colbert. With consistent and meticulous restoration, the five centuries-old casks that belonged to her (“Botti della Marchesa”) are still perfectly intact and efficient.
An exclusive collection of Barolo riserva, from rare vintages going back to the end of the 19th century to the most recent ones, is carefully preserved in the same place where the wines were created.
Torrevento is born in an ancient stone monastery of the 1600’s, in the heart of the Alta Murgia National Park and at the foot of the monument that gives origin to the DOC and DOCG of the territory: the famous Castel del Monte (Federico II Svevia), unique in the world for its majestic shape octagonal. The winery is owned by the Liantonio family and originated in 1913, from a distant and emotional story of emigration to America that in 1948 led to the purchase of the entire property in Contrada “Torre del Vento”, consisting of the ancient monastery used as a cellar with 57ha of vineyards. Today Torrevento controls a 500 hectare vineyard area in Puglia, enhancing the native grapes of the area and with a production philosophy based on Sustainability, Research and Quality. Torrevento as “Ambassador of the wines of Puglia in the world” is the company mission. In a perfect union between innovation and tradition, the winery pursues a development plan that has always been founded on research and quality, for the production of a range of wines that are fully representative of the areas of Castel del Monte, Salento and Primitivo. Torrevento wines, obtained from the native vines of Nero di Troia, Bombino Bianco and Nero, Aglianico, Moscato, Primitivo and Negroamaro are proposed as modern interpreters of ancient Apulian traditions, the result of a combination of factors: favorable microclimate, nature of the territory, selection varietal, winery technology and quality control
