Domaine Guy Allion’s vineyard extends over hillsides on the right bank of the River Cher in the municipalities of Thésée and Monthou-sur-Cher, near the Château de Chenonceau. The family-run estate has grown from 6 hectares in 1953 to 35 hectares of vines today in Touraine, Touraine-Chenonceaux and Crémant de Loire AOP (protected designation of origin). Our shallow calcareous-clay and siliceous-clay soils with the presence of flint, known as “Perruches”, often face southeast and southwest, making them ideal for planting vines at the very top of the hillside. These are steeply sloping, enabling natural drainage, necessary for producing high-quality wines in a semi- oceanic climate. Most of the estate is planted with Sauvignon Blanc – an aromatic grape variety to which our terroir is admirably suited. Gamay and Côt/Malbec are grape varieties that have been cultivated for many years in the Cher Valley, producing red wines bursting with fruit. Our collection is rounded off with other grape varieties, including Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Chenin.
