Classese and Oltrepò Pavese: these are the names of the wines beyond the Po River, on the hills and ridges of the Ligurian Apennines in that corner of Lombardy that joins Piedmont and Emilia.
Home of blanc de noirs and rosé de noirs since 1865, Oltrepò Pavese is the cradle of the classic method Pinot Noir, namely Classese, a historic brand that tells the story of the birth and quality of Italian sparkling wines.
Here, just 50 kilometers from Milan—in a region rich in biodiversity, crossed by four parallel valleys—vines have always been cultivated and seven different DOC wines are produced, representing over half of Lombardy's entire production.
The Classic Method—Classese—and the wines of the Oltrepò Pavese embody a unique history, a land that has always been a frontier. With every sip, they evoke the unique blend of terroir, environment, culture, and expertise that creates them. A land that, by vocation, is today the only international sparkling wine region historically and entirely focused on blanc de noirs.
The Classese Oltrepò Pavese Consortium is the Protection Consortium officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture as the sole body responsible for the Promotion, Protection, and Management of the seven Oltrepò Pavese appellations: DOCG Oltrepò Pavese Classic Method, DOC Pinot Noir Oltrepò Pavese, DOC Oltrepò Pavese, DOC Oltrepò Pavese Pinot Grigio, DOC Buttafuoco, DOC Bonarda, and DOC Sangue di Giuda.
The Consortium, founded in 1977, currently includes approximately 155 directly associated companies and hundreds of indirect members, who supply the cooperatives. The production comes from approximately 11,000 hectares of vineyards, the largest viticultural area in Lombardy, and involves approximately 25,000,000 bottles produced annually.
located in Oltrepo pavese Italy, our production is focused on Pinot noir classic method.
This is how it all started: it was 1919, my great-grandfather Mario Odero returned to Italy from England and fell in love with this estate in Oltrepò Pavese. He bought Frecciarossa and decided to make quality wine, the kind you sell in bottles, a rarity at the time: and he did it.
My grandfather Giorgio took over from him. He went to France to learn from the best winemakers. When he came back, he put his knowledge to good use, setting Frecciarossa on the road to success: international awards, becoming suppliers to the Viceroy of the Indies and to the Royal Household. In 1933, the export licence No. 19 for trade in the United States.
And then it was my mother Margherita with her tenacity who lead us into the new millennium. She renewed the cellars, redesigned our vineyards: together we converted the estate to organic farming.
Today I have a first-rate team around me, and I am supported by the knowledge handed down from the generations before me. Those who lived among the vineyards and hills of this land for a hundred years. Land that I love and that has always been a home to me. And this is our story.

The origins of the estate date back to 1111; since 1868 it has been owned by the Comi family, now in its fifth generation.
