Co-exhibitor of Consorzio Classese e Oltrepò Pavese
Tenuta Travaglino is located in Calvignano, in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese, Italy’s leading area for the cultivation of Pinot Noir. The estate covers 400 hectares in a single, contiguous property and includes 80 hectares of vineyards, 12 farmhouses, a historic hamlet, and a Locanda with a restaurant and guest rooms.
The origins of the estate date back to 1111; since 1868 it has been owned by the Comi family, now in its fifth generation. Young and determined, the family is committed to preserving, enhancing, and passing on a unique heritage over time - an endeavor rooted in an appreciation of the landscape’s beauty and the territory’s centuries-old winemaking vocation.
Travaglino’s signature grape varieties and wines are Pinot Noir, produced both as Traditional Method sparkling wines and as still red wines, and Rhein Riesling. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils at elevations between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, with south-west exposureideal conditions for preserving freshness, acidity, and aromatic complexity.
One of the most historic estates in the region and among the largest in terms of landholding, Travaglino nevertheless remains a family-run boutique winery, preserving its authenticity and producing approximately 150,000 bottles per year.
Over the years, the estate’s wines have received numerous accolades, earning top scores from leading wine guides and competitions, including James Suckling, Robert Parker, Wine Enthusiast, Falstaff, Gambero Rosso, Doctor Wine, and Viniplus.
Tenuta Travaglino is also open on Saturdays and Sundays for visits, tastings, and hospitality-focused experiences.
