The Mokelumne River AVA, at the heart of Lodi, was formed by ancient Sierra Nevada river deposits that left behind deep, well-drained sandy soils. We will examine how sand influences vine health and aromatic character and how these soils produce wines of fragrance, freshness, and finesse, from bright whites to perfumed reds, and discover why the sands of Lodi remain one of California’s most distinctive terroirs.
