Château TOURNEFEUILLE is situated in the commune of Néac within the sound of the church bells. Its vines cover 18 hectares forming one entity around the château, fermenting room and wine store. But what makes this estate special is the magnificent slopes on which it is perched, affording a wonderful view.
Lit up in the afternoon by the hot sun of the south and bathed in orange light at sunset, it dominates the Barbanne valley. This river gently meanders between Pomerol and Néac, forming the hold border separating the former English and French seigneuries.
Today it separates the seigneuries of Pomerol and Lalande, offering a splendid view of the Pétrus plateau.
If history and landscape give this wine a definite attraction, the land is also part of the wine. Château TOURNEFEUILLE extends a unit of 17 hectares of vines, gathered around the chateau and its cellar, spread over 4 distinct terroirs:
A south facing hillside, based on a very nice clay soil with very good water regulation ; the wines express roundness and density, strength and length;
A gravel ridge forming the top of the hill; grape maturity is early, the wines are elegant and complex;
A second north facing hillside, on beautiful gravelly clays, it is a revelation in hot vintages;
A plateau clay-loam soils, developing towards the village of Néac, where the wines are powerful and
structured.
Merlot and cabernet franc derive from this land all their complexity by easily reaching perfect ripeness and quality.
