Tiefenbrunner winery has been in family ownership since 1675. Sabine and Christof Tiefenbrunner, continue the legacy as the fifth generation and their children, Anna and Johannes are following in their footsteps. The family strives to blend the art of winemaking with a deep appreciation for both the traditional as well as the innovative and crafts wines with distinct personalities that are easily identifiable by their unique nature and character.
The family possesses some 25 ha (62 acres) of vineyards at altitudes of between 250 and 1,000 m (820 and 3,280 feet) above sea level. They also buy in grapes from around 50 wine farmers in the local area. This diversity requires a careful understanding of nature and in-depth knowledge of the optimal interaction between soil, climatic conditions, and grape varieties. In accordance with their wine philosophy, they employ four different styles, from the classic vinification in concrete vats or large wooden casks to storage and aging in small oaken barrels and in the bottle.
