The Moretti Cuseri family began its winemaking journey in the heart of Valdarno di Sopra, between Florence and Arezzo. It was in this enchanting and relatively uncultivated patch of Tuscany that architect and fashion personality Alberto Moretti Cuseri bought his first 5 hectares of Sangiovese vines from the royal family of Savoy of Aosta in 1951. He sold the estate's grapes to neighboring wineries until the 1990s, when his son Antonio decided to start making wine under his own brand name: Tenuta Sette Ponti was born. The estate takes its name from the seven bridges spanning the nearby Arno River. His first cuvée, Crognolo, was created in 1998 from Sangiovese clones from the estate's oldest vineyard, Vigna dell'Impero (1935). After planting part of its vineyards with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot in the 1990s with the advice of renowned nurseryman Gilbert Bouvet, Oreno was born in 1999, a wine that quickly won worldwide critical acclaim. Extensive research, unparalleled dedication to the vineyards and ancient winemaking techniques are the basis of our philosophy, which allows us to consistently pursue the highest quality standards, according to organic principles and in line with Tuscan traditions. Today, Antonio's sons and third-generation owners, Alberto and Amedeo, are taking it a step further, studying and rigorously monitoring the vineyard to preserve and improve its agro-ecological balance.
Our business philosophy is based on quality, research, long-lasting knowledge, age-old customs, respect for the land and its balance, and staying in step with genuine agricultural and enological expertise.
