Co-exhibitor of IDM SÜDTIROL / ALTO ADIGE
Known worldwide for its Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer, the J. Hofstätter estate is located in the heart of Tramin-Termeno in Alto Adige.
Martin Foradori Hofstätter, son of Paolo Foradori (the so-called Father of Pinot Noir), runs the company, representing the family’s fourth generation.
The J. Hofstätter estate has become popular for keeping the spotlight on zonation in the region of Alto Adige. The estate’s vineyards extend on both the east and the west side of the Adige Valley, a distinctive occurrence for a family-run winery in Alto Adige. The vines have their roots on plateaus and hills at altitudes ranging from 250 to 850 meters. Each vineyard has a unique terroir and grows in extraordinary microclimatic conditions. Therefore, in 1987, J. Hofstätter was the first winery in Alto Adige to introduce the word “Vigna” (the Italian word for vineyard) on its labels. By taking this step, the winery enhances the production of relevant parcels and single-vineyard wines, which are the key for any wine that aims to be a real “Cru”.
