Founded in 1907 as a cooperative, the St. Michael-Eppan Winery today counts 320 members who cultivate 390 hectares of vineyards. The sites in and around Appiano offer ideal conditions for varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir. But also for structured red wines, there are small but excellent vineyards in lower locations and along the wine route. The mild and sunny climate forms the basis for the unique quality of the wines. Today, St. Michael-Eppan is one of the most renowned wineries in South Tyrol and Italy, with award-winning wines at both national and international level. The Italian wine guide "I Vini d'Italia" by Gambero Rosso named it "Cooperative Winery of the year 2021", a title it had already received 20 years ago.
