Quinta do Poeira is situated in Provesende, stretching along a hillside in the Vale do Pinhão, on the right bank of the river of the same name. An ancient manor house surrounded by vineyards, olive trees and woodland, set in a breathtaking, intense landscape. We consider it to be “one of the finest vineyard valleys in the Douro”.

The quinta has a northerly aspect that is very important. The temperatures in the region are always extremely high in summer, and on a north-facing slope the “grapes always ripen more slowly, which preserves the aromas, flavours and acidity better”.

We want to make wines that are balanced and elegant, not heavy, tannin-laden and boring. Douro wines generally rely on their tannins, but Poeira relies on acidity
