Slovenia
The Puklavec family’s love for wine can be tracked back to 1934 in Slovenia.
Martin Puklavec had a vision: to make the finest wines together. This philosophy continues to resonate through the family’s wine making today.
Puklavec Family Wines are driven by the core values of passion, hard work and dedication to quality. Puklavec Family Wines are produced in the heart of Ljutomer-Ormož, a wine area in the Podravje region, in the North-Eastern part of Slovenia. This area provides the perfect microclimate conditions for grape growing.
The winery holds the highest IFS certificate scores and just obtained a 95% score on the sustainability standard Global Gap and Global Grasp. Furthermore the company just joined the IWCA group with the goal to reduce carbon emissions worldwide. With numerous of Decanter and other international award medals it is one of the biggest Exporter of wines from Slovenia, selling to more than 20 countries worldwide.
Puklavec Family Wines devotes a total of 840 hectares to growing grapes, 522 of which it owns.
The carefully constructed terraces that wind from hill to hill allow the grapes to thrive under the greatest possible amount of sunlight, while the cool nights refresh the fruit. The vineyards are scattered over a number of hills in this beautiful cool-climate area, on an altitude of 250-350 meters.
The result are elegant wines, crafted with an uncompromising and passionate attention to detail, beautifully balanced and as expressive as the landscape of their vineyards.
