How it all started
Casa Vinicola Poletti was founded in 1928 by Aurelio Poletti. Thanks to the hard work of its founder, the three generations that followed him, and the people who have supported
the company with honest and industrious work, it has been possible to maintain a high level of quality in the product and service offered.
The original facility in the center of Imola began as a winery specializing in the production of local grapes and the production of wines in demijohns. In response to market demands, an automatic glass bottling line was developed in the 1960s.
In the 1970s , Aurelio Poletti created synergies with the local area by investing in agricultural land in various areas of Imola. The POLETTI family has always cared about its territory. Several investments were made in land suitable for vineyard cultivation.
The first agricultural businesses were established, and their own grape production began.
The first developments
Casa Vinicola Poletti enters the world of supplies to the Italian Army, beginning a long collaboration that has led it towards bottled wines and its outlook on the future changes.
In the 1980s, bottled wine sales developed and grew alongside the first Italian supermarkets. Large-scale Italian retail trade was growing and found a good partner in Casa Vinicola Poletti, a supplier of quality and authenticity.
During this decade, the company purchased a second winery in Imola, expanding it and investing over time in technology and staff, with a capacity of approximately 80,000 quintals of grapes.
In the 1990s, the company experienced a significant expansion in its packaged wine production capacity, further upgrading its machinery and bottling line.
Demand also came from abroad, and the American market opened up . This development prompted the POLETTI family to consider a major investment, moving the company to a new facility with more dynamic and modern bottling flows and lines. Construction began on the plant facing the A14 motorway.
The 2000s
In 2001, the headquarters moved from the centre of Imola to the new industrial facility at Via Molino Rosso 12 , with ample space for manoeuvring on its 8,000 metres of land and 4,000 metres of covered space and with new bottling, storage and shipping technologies.
Since this move, Poletti has continued to invest in winemaking and bottling technology. The market continues to evolve, with ever-evolving demands, and the POLETTI company hasn't stopped:
New bottling and bottle labelling lines, currently 7 lines
New winemaking technologies
New investments in grapes through ongoing discussions with farmers
New investments to create an eco-sustainable company
Over time, a strong synergy was created with wineries in different areas of Italy, which allowed the expansion of the product portfolio, thus managing to offer a very broad product portfolio and to capture even more international interest.
The story continues
In 2010, CO.VI.R Cantina Viticoltori Romagnoli was founded , which today has a membership
of around 250 members and currently harvests 180,000 quintals of grapes in the area , all processed in Casa Vinicola Poletti.
In 2017 , the VALDARNO cooperative winery in TUSCANY was acquired . This company is developing a strong presence in the CHIANTI region and bringing new growth opportunities. It currently comprises approximately 150 hectares of vineyards and a winery producing approximately 3.5 million quintals of Chianti wine .
In 2023, Poletti purchased a winery near its Imola headquarters to increase its ability to source its products directly from the source. This new winery has a capacity of over 200,000 hl and a significant grape processing potential. From this production site, Poletti gains quality control over most of its products, from the vineyard to the bottle.
Production cycle
The Poletti Winery passionately oversees every stage of the production cycle , ensuring quality and authenticity in every bottle. From the estates located between Tuscany and Romagna , where the vineyards thrive, the grapes are harvested and vinified thanks to the collaboration with COVIR, a cooperative with which we share values and experience. The wine is then bottled at the Poletti Winery , where tradition and innovation meet to create unique products. Finally, through our distribution network, the wines reach consumers and enthusiasts throughout Italy and the world , bringing the flavor and soul of our land everywhere.
