Co-exhibitor of GREAT EXHIBITIONS
Ktima Pavlidis was founded in 1998 by Christoforos Pavlidis after a long search for suitable sites for quality grape growing. It is situated in Drama region, in northern Greece, in a narrow valley surrounded amphitheatrically by three large mountains.
This geographical modification provides the vineyards with a special microclimate, where the cool winds that blow during the night lead to a significant drop in temperature. Thus, the ripening period is extended, giving the grapes the possibility to approach the optimal balance between sugar levels and acidity, while at the same time tending to concentrate high aromatic and phenolic characteristics.
It is our strongest belief that wine personality is ultimately connected to the vineyard and brings with it the hallmark of the soil where the vines roots To fulfil this goal, we have planted 80 hectares of privately owned vineyards, where Greek and international varieties are cultivated. In the vineyards, we apply an Integrated Management System and modern cultivation techniques, while irrigation is carried out according to RDI standards and with the support of three weather stations.
To better express the qualities of both variety and site, yields are controlled meticulously, and many viticultural practices are conducted manually. We apply green harvest, where some grapes are selected and cut with the aim of improving the quality of the grapes that remain in the vines, while the hand picking of the grapes during the night helps in preserving the aromatic and phenolic character of the grapes.
Ktima Pavlidis’ portfolio includes 9 wines, made both from Greek and international grape varieties: Assyrtiko, Agiorgitiko Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Tempranillo and Syrah. More varieties are also cultivated experimentally. All our wines bear the indication Protected Geographical Indication Drama, PGI Drama.
