Co-exhibitor of GREAT EXHIBITIONS
At the heart of a beautiful vineyard in Markopolo, Mesogaia, grandpa Papagiannakos laid the foundation of the family business, sealing his first barrel in 1919.
100 years later, with ulter respect for our forefathers and the natural environment, the 3rd and 4th generation continue to promote high quality in wine production, while staying abreast of oenological developments and applying innovative winemaking methods.
The goal of the new generations is to produce wines that express the terroir of the region wisely chosen by our ancestors.
With 4,000 years of ceaseless viticulture history, the vineyard of East Attica is a truly “blessed land” for its producers, who have been enthusiastically and lovingly growing vineson its unique terroirfor generations.
The location of our vineyard (beside the coastline of East Attica), as well as the microclimate and geological properties of the region, make up the unique nature of our vineyard that is home to our” heritage” variety Savatiano which harmoniously co exists with other Greek varieties and selected international cultivars
Winemaker, Vasilis Papagiannakos ,3rdgeneration,
took over in 1991 and dedicated itself to promoting the Savatiano variety, has won major accolades around the world and his “rooster” brand is included in the wine-lists of renowned restaurants around the world.
However, these accolades are not reserved just for Savatiano, as the winery stands out for all its top-quality wines, with the Assyrtiko and Malagouzia varieties winning over both critics and consumers.
Today, celebrating over 100 years of history, DomainePapagiannakos welcomes visitors from all over the world every day at its facilities, which have won a Hellenic Institute of Architecture award, thus helping transmit winemaking culture and promote Greek wines across the globe.
