.The German Wine Institute (DWI) is the central communication and marketing organization of the German wine industry.
The DWI's core task is to promote the quality and sales of wines from the 13 German wine-growing regions through competition-neutral marketing measures in Germany and abroad. These include press and public relations work, the implementation of information campaigns including corresponding events, participation in national and international trade fairs, and the organization of wine presentations and events together with German producers around the world.
Information and communication
The DWI provides comprehensive information about wines and events in the 13 German wine-growing regions at deutscheweine.de and additional sites in the respective national languages, in podcasts, a specially developed app called "Deutsche Weine" (Google Playstore and App Store) and social media channels.
In addition, the DWI issues information brochures, regular information services, publications and promotional materials, conducts training courses and seminars, especially for representatives from the restaurant and retail sectors, as well as market research, and advises the wine industry on sales promotion issues at home and abroad.
Working worldwide for domestic wine producers
At the DWI, based in Bodenheim near the ‘Great Wine Capital’ Mainz, around 45 employees are currently committed to the interests of the German wine industry under the leadership of Managing Director Monika Reule. In addition, there are the "Information Agencies for German Wine" (Wines of Germany) in defined foreign markets for German wine exports. Currently, the DWI is active in a total of 11 international markets: China, Finland, Great Britain, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the USA.
Striving for quality and science
An important part of the DWI's work is also the promotion of quality for wines from the 13 German wine-growing regions by supporting quality competitions and scientific research. For example, the DWI supports the work of the German Wine Academy (DWA), which deals with the scientific, legal and socio-political aspects of moderate wine consumption. The DWA also promotes scientific research, collects and evaluates data, and communicates in a variety of ways.
Institution under public law (AdöR)
The German Wine Institute (DWI) was founded as a private-sector initiative in the legal form of a limited liability company in 1949 as "Deutsche Weinwerbung" (German Wine Advertising). The sole shareholder is the German Wine Fund (DWF). The DWI's business activities are ensured by the DWF. The DWF operates as an institution under public law (AdöR) on the basis of the German wine law. It is supported by the wine industry and is under the legal supervision of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).
I am part of an innovative new generation of winemakers on the Mosel, consciously challenging traditional ideas. Building on my family’s estate, I have consistently developed the winery since the 2012 vintage, with a clear focus on the future.
In the vineyard, I combine modern, sustainable viticulture with a traditional approach to winemaking. Romanticized Mosel clichés play no role. With respect for nature, region, and origin, terroir driven wines are created, defined by clarity, precision, and character.
The focus of our work lies in healthy, vital vineyards. Through environmentally responsible practices, targeted yield reduction, meticulous canopy management, and organic soil care, we lay the foundation for high quality grapes. Harvesting takes place only at full physiological ripeness and exclusively by selective hand picking.
Our portfolio ranges from entry level wines to terroir expressions and single vineyard bottlings from our vineyards in Kröv and Zeltingen. Riesling takes center stage, from dry to fruit sweet styles. In addition, we cultivate Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir in various quality levels, and since 2014 we have also produced sparkling wine. Each wine clearly reflects its individual microclimate and the Devonian slate soils on which our vines grow.
Johanninger and Weinreich – two independent wineries.
Both estates share a clear philosophy: precise, terroir-driven wines and a consistently organic approach since 2009.
JOHANNINGER, based in Biebelsheim, Rheinhessen, manages vineyards in Rheinhessen and the Nahe. Rheinhessen is characterized by traditional and international varieties on loess and gravel soils, while the Nahe vineyards grow Burgundy varieties on chalky clay soils. The portfolio is complemented by an in-house sparkling wine production.
WEINREICH, also in Rheinhessen, works on loess, clay, and limestone soils. The minimalistic portfolio focuses on Riesling and Burgundy varieties, complemented by the natural wine line „Natürlich Weinreich“ with unfiltered and unsulfured wines.
The two estates are connected not only by their personal partnership but also by their shared commitment to quality and origin as members of Maxime Herkunft. At the fair, they will present selected wines: distinctive Burgundies, terroir-driven Rieslings, international varieties, and handcrafted sparkling wines from their own cellar.
VILLA HUESGEN – The Art Nouveau Winery
The heart of VILLA HUESGEN is the Art Nouveau villa built in 1904 on the Middle Moselle, the family's ancestral home and the centre of the winery. It combines the elegance of Art Nouveau with the values of the winery: inspired by nature, characterised by craftsmanship, open to innovation and full of positive joie de vivre.
Founded in 1735, the winery is now run by Ado Huesgen, the eighth generation of the family. The best vineyards of the Middle Moselle produce fine, complex white wines with freshness, delicate acidity and minerality, which delight with their elegance and longevity.
VILLA HUESGEN focuses on minimalist, natural winemaking and sustainable methods to preserve the character of the grapes and their vineyards. Passion for the region and the product are the winery's guiding principles: Inspired by nature – made by happy people.
The Winery Fleischmann-Krieger is located in Rhodt unter Rietburg along the Southern Wine Route in the Palatinate – often called the “Tuscany of Germany” thanks to its mediterranean climate and proximity to Alsace. We cultivate over 40 hectares of vineyards on a diverse range of soils, including sand, limestone, slate, clay, and loess, which lend our wines remarkable depth and character.
With a winemaking tradition dating back to 1652, our focus today lies on Pinot varieties, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, rosé wines, and estate-produced sparkling wine.
Our philosophy is rooted in working in harmony with nature, expressing authentic origin and distinct varietal character. The result: expressive wines with a clear and unmistakable signature.

Weingut Fritz Waßmer stands for premium quality and has been honored by Deacanter, Robert Parker, James Suckling, Gault & Millau, Vinum, Feinschmecker, and Eichelmann. Inspired by Burgundy, Fritz Waßmer brings deep knowledge of terroir and craftsmanship to every bottle.
With 46 hectares and a strong focus on Pinot Noir, the estate produces expressive, elegant wines shaped by hand harvesting, dense vineyard plantings, and ideal soils and climate.
Three quality tiers define the portfolio:
Guided by the next generation, Waßmer remains committed to creating distinctive wines with true Burgundian elegance.
Founded in 1911, and now run by Saskia A. Prüm of the fourth generation, the S.A.Prüm winery is synonymous with unique Riesling wines from the renowned steep slopes along the famous Mosel river. The winery cultivates 12 hectares of vineyards in the best locations of the Middle Moselle like Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst oder Bernkastel Lay. We focus on dry wines that are perfect for gastronomy, as well as classic sweet wines with perfect acidity balance.
We are member of the VDP, the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates, an association of renowned wineries from all over Germany that are committed to the exceptional quality of traditional grape varieties. As a founding member of the VDP, we place particular emphasis on quality and adhere to the strict rules of the VDP in order to get the best out of our vineyards. Voluntary yield limitation and selective harvesting under strict supervision are important prerequisites for our winery's delicately fruity and lively wines.
Vines are partly of a hundred years old, rooted deep in the slate-rock soil typical of the region from the basis of our particularly mineral-rich wines. Our vineyards are tended primarily by hand, according to the principles of integrated viticulture. We're sustainable certified by Fair'n Green amd produce our wines vegan.
The wines are aged in traditional oak barrels as well as in modern stainless-steel tanks and are subject to strict internal quality standards as well as the controls of the VDP. In our historic vaulted cellar, our fine wines mature with necessary stilness-to perfection.
We are Gabriel and Simon Scheuermann, a winery based in the Pfalz.
We make wine the way it grows. Wine the way we like it: original and individual, free from conventions and regulations.
We work biodynamically, close to nature, focusing on understanding our vineyards and letting them speak for themselves. Our focus is on Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
The beautiful thing about our young project is that not everything is defined yet. We were able to begin without limits, and we are still far from the end. This phase of life is, for us, the most exciting time of all.
Learning together, understanding, and making real wine is the greatest freedom for us.
aThe Stauffer winery has a lot of tradition, experience and history: the Family has been growing wine in Rheinhessen for around 400 years and lives on a former monastery estate.
The Stauffer vineyards are located on limestone-rich soils around Flomborn and the neighboring village of Eppelsheim. The roots of the vines, which are up to 90 years old, dig deep into these mineral soils, providing a high potential for great wines. Today, the vineyard area covers almost 18 hectares.
The experience, the soils and our high quality standards lead to crisp, clear and minerality driven whites, while the red wines are full-bodied, full-flavored and highly ageable.
The conversion to certified organic viticulture began in 2018 and all wines have been certified organic since the 2021 vintage.
Important grape varieties:Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, Portugieser Annual production: 80-90,000 bottles
