Winegrowers since 1704 Vignobles Bardet’s history begins on the banks of the Dordogne River in 1704. Mr. Seigneriau, a river boatman, transported barrels of wine to the port of Saint-Brice de Vignonet, where he sold them. The port became an important trading station in the wine business. Then the Seigneriau family acquired some vines. Meanwhile the expansion of the railway network brought the river transport of goods to an end, enabling the descendants of the Seigneriau family to focus exclusively on cultivating their vines. Succession In the 1920’s, Mr. Seigneriau’s granddaughter, Mathilde Roy, married Henri-Gabriel Bardet, who founded Château du Val d’Or, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. In 1962, their son, Roger Bardet, founded Château Pontet-Fumet, also a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. In 2008, Philippe Bardet, the son of Roger Bardet, became the owner of Château Franc le Maine, another Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. In turn, Philippe Bardet handed this legacy down to his children, Paul-Arthur and Thibault Bardet. In 2013, they acquired Château du Paradis, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. In recognition of their family history, the Vignobles Bardet adopted the Gabarre, a Dordogne river boat, symbolizing the family’s intrepid adventure. Innovation and respect of the environnement Philippe Bardet has designed two revolutionary machines that help him harvest top quality grapes : •The TRIBAIE ‟grape sorter” which sorts (by density measures) and cleans grapes, eliminating remaining leaves and unripe fruits. •The CALIBAIE ‟grape calibrator” which selects the best grapes, separating the smallest, that have the most concentrated sugar content, from the largest. Vignobles Bardet are certified ‟Haute Valeur Environnementale” at level 3. This certification considers the biodiversity, the phytosanitary strategy, the management of the water, and the fertilization. Philippe is the founding president of the 1st association of the SME (system of management environmental of wine in Bordeaux). This association is certified ISO 14001. .
