Starting with a small plot of a less than an hectare in 1945, Marcel & Huguette Gitton discovered and pioneered single-site, terroir-focused Sancerres. Pascal Gitton, the son, his Australian wife Denise, and the grand-daughter Chanel, carry on the tradition today. The exclusively estate grown & bottled wines have been sold in over 30 countries for more than 40 years. The domain now extends to 33 hectares, covering 3 AOCs and various distinctive soils : flint, chalk, marley ... 27 ha are vinified into Sancerre, and on the eastern riverbank of the Loire : 5 ha in Pouilly Fumé, 2.5 ha in Côteaux du Giennois. Vinification is traditional, all in spontaneous fermentation (indigenous yeast), and still one third of the production is aged in barrels. Our particularity is that we offer a wide range of vintages, with various styles of Sauvignon even though they all remain locally grown on our estate.
