The La Palazza estate stands on the ancient hills of Romagna between the towns of Forlì and Predappio in a strategic position at the outlet of the valleys of the Rabbi and Montone rivers, around one of the watchtowers that Caterina Sforza in 1481 placed to defend her territories.
The estate has belonged to the Drei Donà counts since the 1920s, and has always been devoted to the production of Sangiovese grapes.
Of the property's 23 hectares of vines, conducted according to the dictates of organic and biodynamic agriculture, most are naturally dedicated to Sangiovese, the prince grape of the Predappio DOC. Alongside these, Claudio Drei Donà in the mid-1980s planted - a true pioneer - the first polyclonal vineyard of cabernet sauvignon in Romagna and a vineyard with Chardonnay and Riesling grapes from which he created two wines that have marked the history of viticulture in Romagna. At the time highly innovative and today they have become two great classics.
The philosophy that animates the winery is one of extreme rigor and simplicity: we listen to nature, trying to interpret its soul as best we can. To give life to wines that encapsulate the essence of the place in the joy of a glass.
The meticulous work in the vineyard respecting the rhythms and cycles of nature, the care of biodiversity on the estate, the delicate work in the cellar, the slow aging in terracotta, wood and cement are the simple gestures to bring to the glass the purest expression of our micro-terroir of Massa di Vecchiazzano within the DOC Predappio.
