Domaine Montbarbon is located in the Mâcon-Villages and Viré-Clessé appellations in southern Burgundy.
Passionate about our terroir, we manage our vineyard sustainably. Our viticulture is environmentally friendly, based on meticulous manual work. Cover crops are used to improve the soil, vine training, and the grapes (better soil structure, biodiversity, water retention capacity, regulating vine growth, etc.).
We do not use herbicides in order to preserve our environment. In the near future, we will be working towards organic certification.
Jean-Jacques Féral succeeded Martine and Jacky Montbarbon in 2022. Since then, he has brought his contemporary vision to vineyard work and winemaking.
The range includes a Mâcon-Villages "Les Origines" cuvée (a Chardonnay aged in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Fresh and delicious, made from old vines of approximately 80 years old). Available in bottles and bag-in-box.
Viré-Clessé "Les 3 Terroirs" (Chardonnay aged in stainless steel tanks, indigenous yeasts. Blend of parcels representing the 3 significant soil types of the appellation. Complex, thirst-quenching, and mineral).
Viré-Clessé "Quintaine La Chapelle St Trivier" (Chardonnay aged in stainless steel tanks, indigenous yeasts. From a single plot, 80-year-old vines. A rich, full-bodied wine with floral notes).
Viré-Clessé "Secret des Voûtes" (Chardonnay aged for 24 months in old barrels, indigenous yeasts. Finished in stainless steel tanks for added freshness. A selection of our best terroirs. An elegant wine with a chalky minerality).
Viré-Clessé "En Pommetin" (Chardonnay aged for 10 months in old barrels, indigenous yeasts. Finished in stainless steel tanks for added freshness. From one of the finest plots in the appellation. A smooth and juicy wine with notes of mirabelle plum).
Blanc de Blancs "La Belle Histoire" Brut. (Sparkling wine made from our old Chardonnay vines. Champagne method. Fresh, thirst-quenching and precise).
