Moreau family has been in Chablis since 1814, acquiring vineyards over the generations and owning two estates: Domaine Louis Moreau and Domaine de Biéville. Today, the Moreau family owns parcels within the four levels of the appellation: Petit Chablis, Chablis, 1er Cru Vaillons, 1er Cru Les Fourneaux, 1er Cru Vau Ligneau, Grand Cru Les Clos, Grand Cru Valmur, Grand Cru Vaudésir, Grand Cru Blanchot, Grand Cru Clos des Hospices (family monopole). Louis Moreau, representing the 6th generation, has been runnning the Estate since 1994, after studying oenology-viticulture in the US (Fresno State University) where he worked for wineries in California (Callaway Vineyards - Roederer Estate). When he took over the Estate, Louis initiated its conversion into sustainable viticulture and organic farming (non certified) for all Premiers Crus and Grands Crus. In February 2020, Domaine Louis Moreau and Domaine de Biéville obtained the certification HVE - Level 3. (High Environmental Value) Domaine Louis Moreau exports 80% of its production, being present in more than 40 countries.
