DOMAINE GRAND A Passion for Nature Domaine GRAND has long been known as that of the GRAND brothers, Lothain, Dominique and Georges. In 2015, Lothain's son Emmanuel, who had been working here since 2000, took over part of the estate with his partner Nathalie, daughter of Arbois winemakers, and the two of them created a more modest estate. Unique, complementary, playful, passionate and rigorous, Emmanuel and Nathalie are writing a new history for Domaine Grand. The estate has been located in Passenans near Château-Chalon since 1985, and covers 10 hectares of AOC Côtes du Jura, Arbois and Château-Chalon. From the outset, we have planted and cultivated plots of land that are suitable for organic farming. Our aim has always been to respect the land, the terroir, the grapes, the wine and the customer. With our employee Michel, we preserve the natural state of the soil and the surrounding biodiversity by grassing the vine rows and using green manure produced by us from frost-resistant organic Jura seeds (faba beans, oats, clover, Minette, etc.). Our vines come from a variety of meticulously selected grape varieties. Emmanuel selected the best Chardonnay plants from his great-grandfather's estate to create his plots. The choice of Pinot Noir is based on a low-yielding variety that concentrates aromas: "fine-grained pinot". The Trousseau plots are planted with a rare, top-quality variety called Trousseau à la Dame. Long-maceration reds are produced here. As for the Savagnin plots, they are all planted on grey marl soils, the grape variety's preferred terroir. We want to respect the work of our elders, who have passed on to us their know-how in the making of vins de voile, a real treasure for us Jura people. Since 2019, our 10 hectares of vines have been cultivated organically to allow the soil to live to the full, the grapes to be free of chemicals, and ever more expressive wines with a low total sulfite content. This evolution is a means and not an end, a way of appreciating what we do and giving pride of place to our terroirs. We hand-pick healthy grapes of exceptional ripeness, adapted to each grape variety. Today, 4 people work on the estate year-round. Our quest for diversity has led us to produce 19 different cuvées. Often terroir by terroir, with a great deal of innovation, taking into account the extraordinary potential of the Jura vineyards with their white varieties - chardonnay and savagnin - and their reds - trousseau and pinot noir. Finally, there's no shortage of new projects, from the creation of new vintages to the replanting of a beautiful area, not forgetting the desire to continue to improve the quality of all our wines, which is so dear to our hearts... for ever more pleasure in the bottle! Our identity translates into gourmet, tannic wines like the Pinot noir En Prêle or the Trousseau à La Dame, and powerful, subtle white wines like our Château Chalon. Macvin du Jura and Crémant du Jura are also our specialties. Some specific vintages have become the curiosity of wine lovers, such as our Chardonnay La Grande Chaude (terroir: iridescent marl, aged 24 months in oak barrels) or Arbois Savagnin En Guille Bouton (aged 18 months in oak barrels).
