The Domaine de la Paleine extends at the foot of the Puy-Notre-Dame hill, where it has existed since at least the 18th century. The current exploitation took shape starting in the 1990s, guided by the desire to produce wines with character, faithful to their terroir.
About thirty hectares of vines are cultivated organically (2013) and biodynamically (Demeter 2017), both in the vineyard and in the cellar. We practice healthy, sustainable viticulture in order to obtain the best expression of our limestone soils. Maintaining and enhancing biodiversity is at the heart of our approach, with numerous hedges and fifteen beehives.
Driven by our passion for Chenin and Cabernet Franc, we produce wines from the Saumur-Puy-Notre-Dame appellation, of which we are one of the committed players, and other Saumur appellations. The vinifications are done without additives and with low doses of sulfites. Some remarkable plots are highlighted in our single-plot cuvées.
The estate thrives thanks to a team of passionate men and women, not to mention the seasonal workers, who regularly join us.
