Co-exhibitor of Les Vins de Bandol
Domaine de La Bégude has 38 hectares of vineyards at 410 meters above the Mediterranean Sea, the highest point of the Bandol appellation. The most northerly and westerly domain of the appellation, the vines are isolated and protected in the middle of a wilderness of 300 hectares of garrigue and woods, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. In this unique microclimate, due to the altitude and the influence of the sea, the vines flourish on a fresh terroir, unusual in the region, which gives the wines a unique style, full of aroma and freshness. Domaine de La Bégude counts more than 300 hectares of preserved nature, far from any non organic cultivation practice, where all weed killers, pesticides and chemical fertilizers are banned. The density of plantation is of 5,000 vines per hectare, on a patchwork of soils: ferruginous sandstone from the Coniacian with limestone cement, recent limestone scree & marl and limestone with rudists from the Turonian. Yields are deliberately controlled to favor the concentration of the wines and a homogeneous maturity of the grapes. They never exceed 30 hectoliters per hectare and can be much lower for certain vintages. Like a large stained-glass window illuminated by the Mediterranean sun, covering the ground with a mosaic of colors, Domaine de La Bégude brings together plots of land with multiple tones. Each vine scattered within the perfumed land reflects its own environment. Thyrsus (Certified Natural Wine), La Brulade, l'Irréductible... are all wines with endearing personality that draw their elegance and generosity from the terroir of La Bégude. All our wines are vegan and certified organic (Bio UE/NOP) and Demeter from the 2023 vintage.
