Co-exhibitor of VINS & CREMANTS LUXEMBOURG
The Domaine Alice Hartmann is located in the southern (upper) region of the Moselle, where the soils are predominantly made of limestone. This allows us to cultivate very elegant Rieslings as well as certain Burgundy varieties, namely Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Compared to previous generations, we have introduced new grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With Chardonnay, we were the first winery to plant this variety in Luxembourg. Another first in Luxembourg was the introduction of oak barrels in the Burgundy style and the production of Crémants of the highest quality, capable of competing with Champagne. The estate has been completely modernized, and today we have a state-of-the-art cellar and machinery.
Our philosophy in the vineyards has always been to reduce yields in order to significantly improve the quality of the grapes. Most of our Rieslings grow on steep slopes or old terraces, ensuring optimal sun exposure and ripe fruit.
Our Rieslings are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, while the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a portion of the base wines for our Crémant are vinified and matured in oak barrels in the Burgundy style.
The average age of our Riesling vineyards is about 50 years, with the oldest vineyard being 90 years old.
The Wormeldange Koeppchen site has limestone soil with high sunlight exposure. The vineyard is protected from above and transitions from a southeastern to a southwestern orientation towards the sun.
The Palmberg site grows on soils with a high rock content, is southeast-oriented, and is sheltered by a large cliff to the north.
