Founded in 1998, the not-for-profit Consortium for the protection of wines Valtènesi - Riviera del Garda Classico DOC, San Martino della Battaglia DOC, and Benaco Bresciano IGT currently called Consorzio Valtènesi
It was originally established in Polpenazze del Garda as the Consorzio Garda Classico. It became the Consorzio Valtènesi in December 2010, in order to comply with the provisions of the legislation on the regulation of PDO and PGI wines, and following the birth of the new Denomination of Controlled Origin Valtènesi. Consorzio Valtènesi has its head office in Puegnago del Garda, Brescia, in Lombardy.
When we speak of Valtènesi we think of a light and delicate pink wine, born of tradition and the desire to experiment. A wine strongly linked to its territory and the dolce vita.
We are located on the Brescia side of Lake Garda in the Valtènesi area, consisting of 18 municipalities. From Sirmione to Gardone Riviera via Muscoline and Bedizzole. Facing the sunrise, the Valtènesi is cool nights, light breezes and sunny mornings. A gentle climate that gives our wines finesse and elegance.
Our main wine is Valtènesi rosé, which has Groppello (minimum 30 percent) vinified alone or accompanied by other black grape varieties Barbera, Sangiovese and Marzemino (maximum 25 percent each and maximum 70 percent combined).
The name Valtènesi has uncertain origins but one theory states that it derives from Vallis Atheniensis, a name due to the large presence of Athenian settlers following the Roman armies who saw a geographical and topological reproduction of Athens . A further hypothesis would have it so named in honor of a pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Athena.
The area is composed of morainic hills, thus formed by the debris brought by the glacier that occupied the basin of Lake Garda during the 4 different glaciations, this makes the soil extremely rich in skeleton and the like, a peculiarity that, combined with the hillsides, creates ideal situations for growth, development and quality production by the vine, all of which is crowned by the beneficial influence that Italy's largest lake has on the entire area, giving the area a sub-Mediterranean climate that provides grapes with the best conditions for growth and ripening, these characteristics also make the lake the northernmost area where various plants such as citrus, capers and olive trees grow naturally.
We like to tell the story of Valtènesi with 5 points.
The first is "A QUESTION OF METHOD."
It all began with the marriage of a Venetian senator, Pompeo Molmenti, and the Garda noblewoman Amalia Brunati. In 1885 Molmenti's interest in the world of wine led him to discover the area's main vocation, rose winemaking, and an official production procedure dated 1896 was drafted based on overnight contact with the skins and must.
In fact as early as the 1500s a wine called "claretto" was produced in the area thus denoting the historicity of this vocation and tradition in pink.
We are the oldest area in Italy for the production of rosé from dedicated harvests; in fact, our wineries have always dedicated the best red grapes for the production of rose wine.
The second point is "THE FRAGILE AND PRECIOUS GROPPELLO."
Groppello is a variety of red grape indigenous to the Valtènesi area, that is, it originated and developed here, this gives the area a unique raw material in the world which makes it precious in a priceless way, fragile instead because like any product of nature it needs care and attention, and only careful and quality agriculture allows us to get the best out of this gift we have been given.
The third is "PACT BETWEEN GENERATIONS," because the Valtènesi is characterized mainly by family-run businesses where the knowledge and tradition of wine is handed down from father to son, ensuring an unbreakable bond between territory and producers.
The fourth is called "MEDITERRANEAN AMONG THE ALPS."
The unique climatic characteristics guarantee the merits of a mild climate at the level of evolution, but at the same time the more northerly location guarantees greater elegance and refinement of the wines. We are the point in the north farthest from the sea where olive trees, agave, lemons and incredibly capers grow.
The fifth and final one is called "THE SWEET LIFE IN A GLASS" this is because the Garda Riviera has always been a renowned resort and tourist destination where culture, beauty, nature, refined hospitality and food and wine of the highest level come together to create a place where you can let yourself go to the lightness and pleasure of life, an experience that you can relive thanks to the memories evoked with every sip of Valtènesi.
The strong relationship between Avanzi family and their land led to the creation of the family business in 1931.
This tradition all began when the founder, Giovanni Avanzi, obtained an excellent red wine from the grapes of the region of Lake Garda.
The tradition alives with the same passionate spirit, devotion, loving care and quality, generation after generation, to continuously seek improvement in all aspects of wine quality and wine production.
Avanzi is present in the three main Lombardy appellations with five owned estates for a total of 50 ha of vineyards.
From the delicacy of Groppello in Valtènesi to the minerality of Lugana clay (Bragagna); from the power and longevity of the reds of Montecorno, to the acidity of the Romantica in Franciacorta.
Avanzi contains in its glass the best expression of each land.
In the family oil-mill, with the same care and precision, Avanzi produces an outstanding and exquisite Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil.

Since 1958 in Valtènesi and Lugana. Lake Garda. Autochthonous. Organic. In the family.
In 1958 Andrea Pasini started our family's adventure between vineyards and wine. Today we continue to be in the family, after three generations, with our feet in the earth and our grandfather Andrea's wine in our heads, good, healthy and son of his vineyards. Our winery is on Lake Garda, in Raffa di Puegnago, in the middle of Valtènesi, on the first hills overlooking the lake. The vineyards we cultivate are around the winery, facing the sunrise and in other Riviera municipalities, in Valtènesi and Lugana. Here we dedicate ourselves to the precious indigenous grapes that find their full expressive happiness in harmony with their places of origin: the rare Groppello grape in Valtènesi for rosé and red wines, the Turbiana grape in Lugana for white wines. Thanks to the unique microclimate that describes us as the 'Mediterranean between the Alps' and thanks to the original indigenous varieties, the wines are delicate and gentle but also so full of personality that they do not fear long ageing, as well as the most varied food pairings. The link with the enchantment of the land is our guiding principle: Pasini is our family, San Giovanni is the farmstead where our adventure as winegrowers started, in Raffa di Puegnago.
Since 2009 we measure our carbon footprint and cultivate all our vineyards in organic regimen. Autochthonous, organic, in the family.
