Appellation SAINT EMILION GRAND CRU One of the most famous appellations among the 62 appellations of Bordeaux wines 7,400 ha, 117,000 ha for the area of Bordeaux (France 835,000 ha). Petit Mangot has been in the same family since 1930.
Originally 6 hectares of vineyards and buildings, it was enlarged to 12 hectares in 1984, this chateau is located in the village of Saint Etienne de Lisse, east of Saint Emilion, 45 km from Bordeaux.
Terroir Hillsides south / southeast, limestone soils and clay with a silty tendency, dominating the Dordogne valley, and in the extension of the hills of Saint Emilion. Molasse du Fronsadais in the lower part.
2 varieties of red grape :
- Merlot 80% Red fruit flavors: cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant ... Merlot is used for its deep color and to soften wines.
- Cabernet-Franc 20% Spicy and toasted notes. Cabernet is used to add a more structuring flavor.
- Cabernet-Sauvignon : we planted in 2021 a small plot with this grape to bring diversity to our wines. Average annual production Over 51,000 vines on 10 hectares, 450 hectoliters, 60,000 bottles.
Cultivation methods Guyot mixed or double pruning, tillage with only mechanical weeding, green harvesting, leaf removal, sustainable cultivation. Abandonment of chemical weed control since 2007.
