The estate Ansitz Waldgries was first documented in 1242 in Santa Maddalena, making it one of the oldest wineries in the region. The small winery has been run by the family Plattner for almost 100 years. Today, Christian Plattner is the 3rd generation to realize his ideas: «Wines that reflect both this special place and my signature style.»
The vineyards lie on steep, sunny slopes above Bolzano in South Tyrol, where indigenous varieties like Vernatsch (Schiava), Lagrein and Rosenmuskateller thrive. Additionally Ansitz Waldgries produces white wines from Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc, as well as a Blanc de Noir made from Pinot Noir and the autochthonous variety Blatterle. We craft wines that express the character of the land, the climate and our heritage - with care, authenticity, and love for sharing moments of enjoyment.
