Château Climens is the highest vineyard in the Barsac appellation, an incomparable terroir where one finds a truly wonderful expression of Semillon. Such innate distinction, completed by the consecutive owners’ great care, soon earned Climens the name of ‘Lord of Barsac’, and the title of First classified growth of Sauternes in 1855. The vineyard’s surface area, a single vineyard of 30 hectares has remained unchanged since the 16th century. In 1971, the finesse of its wines convinced Lucien Lurton, a famous Bordeaux wine-grower to purchase the estate. Since 1992, his daughter Berenice Lurton is taking great care in perpetuating the magic. She has converted in 2010 the whole vineyard into biodynamics, another expression of her involvement. Since July 2022, Moitry Family has taken the direction of Château Climens for a new adventure!
