Co-exhibitor of SAINT-EMILION - POMEROL - FRONSAC
Main exhibitor
The vineyard lies to the north-west of the Saint-Émilion commune, between Cheval Blanc and the Butte de Rol, on the edge of the Pomerol appellation. With 17,5 hectares of vines in a single block around the property, Château Chauvin watches over an exceptional terroir. The vines are planted on a sandy-clay terroir with the presence of pseudogley and iron crasse. Mainly planted with Merlot, it is complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The origins of this property date back to 1852, when the former grand fief of Corbin was divided up. Château Chauvin was ranked among the 80 crus selected from nearly 100 crus listed in the first classification of Saint-Émilion crus in 1954 and has been maintained in each new classification since. The acquisition of the property in 2014 by Sylvie Cazes and her children, Julie, Pierre and François Régimbeau, marked the beginning of a new era in the history of Château Chauvin.
Both in the vineyard and in the winery, a major restructuring program is underway.
An in-depth study of the soil and subsoil, underfoot tilling, green harvesting, a replanting program; Château Chauvin has undergone major changes in the vineyard. In the cellar, the same logic of renewal is present with the creation of a new vats and barrels cellars in 2022.
Faithfully representing the expression of their terroir, Château Chauvin wines are distinguished by their finesse, elegance and expression of fruit.
