About Beaujolais wines
Located between Lyon to the south, Pays Mâconnais to the north and bordered by the Saône River to the east, the Beaujolais region spans the Rhône and Saône-et-Loire départements. The Beaujolais vineyards stretch out over 13,000 hectares of vines claimed in 12 Beaujolais appellations where over 2000 wine estates and négociants, and 9 wine cooperatives. The 12 Beaujolais appellations stand out thanks to the expression of their wines whether festive, expressive or exceptional. 100% red Beaujolais crus are located in the northern half: Brouilly, Chénas, Chiroubles, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Régnié, Saint-Amour. The Beaujolais and Beaujolais Villages, to the south and encircling the crus can be either red, white, rosé or Nouveaux.
Château de Javernand has been one of the main estates in Chiroubles for over 200 years. It belongs to the Fourneau family since 1917. On this human-sized estate, Arthur Fourneau and his cousin Pierre Prost focus on producing high quality wines. Farming is organic with regenerative agriculture practices since 2018, especially with agroforestry, in order to adapt to the climate change, and give the better expression of the granitic terroir of Javernand. The vinifications are with very low inputs, and ageing is mainly in concrete to highlight the elegance of Gamay Noir. The estate is also producing Mâcon-Villages, Mâcon Pinot Noir, and Beaujolais Rosé.
The vineyard was created by Henri DEPARDON in 1848. It has been handed down from father to sonfor 8 generations, and has grown in size. After his studies Olivier joined the vineyard, working at first as asharecropper for his father and grandfather, Maurice and Joseph DEPARDON. In 1985 he took the lead, taking charge of 4 hectares of vines. His wife Ghislaine joined the aventure in 1989. Alexis, their son, and Caroline, their daughter, have joined the aventure less than a decade ago. Since then, the vineyard has grown and evolved to covers 31 hectares, while promoting core values of family spirit, quality and authenticity.
Two estates will be on the stand, both farmed using agroecological methods and certified organic.
Château de Javernand, a family estate located on the heights of Chiroubles, is a 55-hectare single-block of nature and biodiversity. The 11ha of vines of the estate are farmed with plant cover and agroforestry trees in the heart of the plots, in order to damp the climate, nourrish the soil and vines, and finally produce better and natural grapes. Our aim is to produce wines full of pleasure from our two terroirs : Chiroubles, in the heart of the Beaujolais Crus, and Mâcon-Villages, in southern Burgundy. In 2022, Bourgogne Aujourd'hui magazine ranked us among the top 30 Beaujolais estates.
Domaine Frédéric Berne, located in Lantignié in the Beaujolais region, extends over 14 hectares. Our aim is to cultivate living soils and healthy vines to produce grapes, and therefore quality wines, as naturally as possible. We produce red wines in Beaujolais Lantignié, Régnié and Morgon, all 100% Gamay.

"A new story in Beaujolais"
A new winemaker brand on the market, "VieuxBourg - Famille Piron"
After selling out of the "Vins Piron" business venture in 2020, Dominique Piron, the 14th generation of winemakers in the family, has refocused as a simple winemaker, in a new company in Corcelles en Beaujolais, at the Clos du Vieux Bourg, with all the vines of the family estate in Morgon.
The place is beautiful and full of history, the buildings are the old village church with its presbytery. Written traces attest to the existence of this building in the year 900.
A beautiful set of 35 hectares, experience, prestigious appellations, Morgon, Morgon Côte du Py, Chénas, Régnié, Beaujolais Blanc, remarkable terroirs, a unique place to develop and a new brand to establish on the market, this is simply the new story to perpetuate the vineyard of the "Piron Family".
Since 1905, the Descombe family has been building its history in the heart of Beaujolais, at the foot of Mont Brouilly. Five generations later we have expanded our reach further North to Chablis. We adopt agroecological practices in our vines and low-intervention winemaking.
