Athanasiou Assyrtiko 2023 PGI Peloponnese

From Nemea. Grown at 340 m. Five to six months on the lees.

Creamy citrus purity. Extremely tightly wound, with a chalky, dry texture.

Intensely fresh, almost sour in its freshness. The texture really enhances the wine. (JH) 12.5%

Drink 2024 – 2026

Points:    16.5

Athanasiou, Gi Fotos 2021 Nemea

Agiorgitiko. 50-year-old bush vines grown at 320 m. Aged in 500-litre French oak. Deep crimson. Ripe, sweetly spicy dark fruits: damson, blackberry, black plum. Firm, chewy and really fresh. A good example of the variety, with harmony,

balance and restrained use of oak to round out the smooth tannins. Lovely wine. Probably needs a bit more time. (JH) 14%
