Argentina
A visionary family
The Zuccardi family arrived in Argentina in the late 19th century and has been at the forefront of Argentine
winemaking for six decades. Our founder, engineer Alberto Zuccardi, planted his first vineyard in Maipú, Mendoza, in 1963 to showcase the effectiveness of a new irrigation system he invented.
This led him to discover his true passion for viticulture, paving the way for the generations that followed. Today, Alberto´s grandson and third generation viticulturist Sebastián Zuccardi continues his family´s visionary spirit, leading the exploration of the Uco Valley with the aim of cultivating mountain wines with a sense of place.
Discovering new terroirs
Located at the foot of the Andes Mountains in Paraje Altamira, the Zuccardi Valle de Uco winery is a tribute to the mountains, situated in one of the most diverse, stony and calcareous terroirs of the world. After joining the family business and planting the family´s first vineyard in the Uco Valley in 2007, Sebastián quickly put in place a Research and Development department in 2009 to study the valley’s diverse soils and micro-climates, develop a more precise and contemplative viticulture, and conduct years of studies that led them to find in concrete the ideal ally for elaborating wines that preserve the pure expression of their place of origin.
This level of investment into, and exploration of, this region is unprecedented, and illustrates Sebastián’s mission to prioritize wines that express the place and to show that this region has some of the best and most unique terroirs in the world.
Leading the future
Sebastián and his team continue to create, innovate, and push boundaries to develop the unique personality of new Argentine wines.
In 2024, Zuccardi Valle de Uco became the first winery in Paraje Altamira with six 100-point wines from leading international critics, putting the Paraje Altamira region on the map of the best terroirs in the world. Zuccardi Valle de Uco was also selected for three years in a row as the #1 the Best Vineyard in the World by World’s Best Vineyards (2019-2020-2021), and then inaugurated into the Hall of Fame in 2022. The winery was also awarded as “New World Winery of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast in 2022.
