In the heart of Valpolicella rises Tenuta Villa Bellini. The winery in San Pietro in Cariano (VR) produces wines according to the principles of precision organic viticulture.

Tenuta Villa Bellini is a wine-making company enclosed within the "brolo" (the orchards) of the villa, located in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica. It extends over six hectares of land, four of which are dedicated to vine cultivation. Here, among vineyards and olive trees, grow centuries-old cypresses and a three-hundred-year-old oak tree. This pristine landscape, populated by unique biodiversity, is enhanced by a spring hidden in a cave and a small lake that plunges into the forest.

The soils consist of an interweaving of limestone and Eocene calcarenitic rock foundations, covered by a thin layer of earth, and are dedicated to precision organic viticulture, implemented with respect for the brolo, for the flora and fauna, which involves minimal interventions in the vineyard carried out with respect for biodiversity.

The main soil nutrition system is green manure, irrigation is exclusively for emergency support, and biological treatments and fertilizations are performed only when strictly necessary and only for the vineyards that need them.

Four are the main native grape varieties of the area cultivated according to this method: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara. The grape varieties cultivated with vertical espalier training [alberello] and pergola systems grow in very narrow rows, at high density, ensuring higher quality grapes at the expense of low yield per hectare and, at the same time, allowing for exclusively manual agricultural work.

The harvest is carried out by hand through careful selection of the bunches. Only healthy and perfectly ripe grapes reach the cellar, while those not suitable are returned to the earth. The drying process occurs naturally, with only ventilation of the fruit room, so that each individual grape bunch can best express its aromatic potential. Fermentation is spontaneous and occurs through micro-vinifications with small quantities of grapes whose subdivision is marked by harvest time. Wine aging takes place in a cellar composed of 500-liter tonneaux and 2000-liter barrels of French oak with delicate toasting. Every phase of winemaking is carried out in the estate's historic cellar.

In addition to the winery, there is also the eighteenth-century villa which, in collaboration with expert restorers and the Superintendency of Cultural and Historical Heritage, is currently being restored and will become a wine-relais, the hub of our winery hospitality.

The wines of Tenuta Villa Bellini are the fruit of the centuries-old winemaking tradition of Valpolicella. Five are the references produced, each with its own character.

TEATRINO Valpolicella Classico DOC, the spontaneous fermentation style aims to enhance finesse and vinous perfume, subtle with tones of sour cherry, rose, black pepper and medicinal herbs. (vintage currently on sale: 2024)

TIRELE Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC, a lively red wine, whose spicy notes are balanced by hints of red fruits, such as raspberry and red blueberry, with floral and balsamic aromas. (vintage currently on sale: 2023)

SOTTOLAGO Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC, a red wine with fruity notes of cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry and sweet spices with a dry finish, which makes it rich and elegant. (vintage currently on sale: 2022)

CENTENARIE Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, with hints of fresh fruits and a wide range of aromas such as blackberry, cherry, sour cherry and plum, tobacco, cocoa, pepper and cinnamon, it is a red wine resulting from a long production time. (vintage currently on sale: 2016)

MILLESIMATO Blanc de Noir, Quality Sparkling Wine, Metodo Classico, Brut Nature Straw yellow with fine and persistent perlage. On the nose it is fruity and mineral, with notes of small red fruits and cedar. On the palate it is full, fresh, dry, fruity and slightly tannic. The perlage gives elegance and structure.
