In 1973 Italo Zingarelli, a film producer responsible for such succeses as – of Ettore Scola’s “We All Loved Each Other So Much” fame, and also the wildly popular series of films featuring comedy duo Bud Spencer and Terence Hill (including “They Call Me Trinity” and “Trinity Is Still My Name”), founded Rocca delle Macie located in Tuscany near the medieval village of Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico area and soon afterwards purchased another three properties in the same zone; Sant’Alfonso, Fizzano and le Tavolelle, and two in Maremma in the Morellino di Scansano zone; CampoMaccione and Casa Maria. Today the company is led directly by Sergio, Italo’s third born, and his family who passionately look to obtain in their wines the utmost expresssion of the terroir of magnificent area where they come from. Since many years now the family has implemented a global quality program, abandoning environmentally envasive techniques and adopting a rigorous and meticulous internal sustainability protocol. In 2021 the decision was made to undertake a specific certification process for the wine sector, VIVA, which aims to improve the sustainability performance of the entire wine production chain, in order to shed light on all of the investments and activities, both technical and socio-cultural, implemented in over two decades. Rocca delle Macie offers an ample range of DOCG, DOC & IGT wines from all over Tuscany and also enjoys partnerships with producers in other important Italian wine regions including Trento, South Tyrol, Friuli (Colli Orientali), Franciacorta, Campania & Apulia.
