QUINTA DO NOVAL

Quinta do Noval is one of the major historic Port houses, renowned for its great VINTAGE PORTS but also for its fine OLD TAWNIES  and its complete range of classic Port Wines, produced since the early 18th century.  Quinta do Noval is the only historic Port Shipper to use the name of its vineyard to produce a Vintage Port from one single vineyard, when declared.

Quinta do Noval is situated in the DOURO Valley in the north of Portugal and the vineyard is at the heart of everything we do (Christian SEELY, Managing Diretor - AXA Millésimes ; Carlos AGRELLOS, Technical Director - Quinta do Noval). 

The vineyard of 145 hectares which is entirely classified letter A, is planted with the noblest grape varieties of the Douro : TOURIGA NACIONAL, TOURIGA FRANCESA, TINTA RORIZ, TINTO CAO, SOUSAO. 

In the 90's, around a hundred hectares of the domaine have been replanted, adapting pruning methods to suit each parcel. Today, we have  high quality grapes which on one hand assure the excellence of QUINTA DO NOVAL PORTS and on the other hand the production of DOURO WINES since the 2004 vintage. Today, the parcels are replanted in single grape variety plots to suit each individual parcel of land, according to three principal factors : the altitude, the exposition and the type of planting the vine.  The magnificient old terraces made with schiste still represents Quinta do Noval's vineyard.
