History
Founded in 1973 by Mario Barbero, the winery is located in Pertinace, Treiso and it’s also known as the birthplace of Publio Elvio Pertinace, the Roman Emperor, who was born here. Traits of the great emperor are evident in the character of those who live and work at Cantina Pertinace today – tenacity, the love for the land they worked every day and perseverance.
The winery numbers are: 21 associated, 110 hectares and 800.000 bottles produced.
Cantina Pertinace wines are part of traditional Piedmont winemaking and the production of Barbaresco, Langhe Nebbiolo, Dolcetto d’Alba and Barbera d’Alba is oriented towards a classic, elegant style.
Tall stainless steel tanks contrast with aisles of great 40 to 105 hectolitre wooden casks where ageing takes place in cool, quiet half-light.
