Giovanni Rosso is an established winery from Piedmont, Italy, at the heart of the Barolo region. Led by fifth-generation vinegrower Davide Rosso, the estate is dedicated to producing wines that embody the true essence of their terroir.
The winery’s holdings comprise 11 exceptional crus, all situated in Serralunga d’Alba, one of Barolo’s most revered villages. Among them is a prized parcel in the legendary Vignarionda cru. Expanding beyond Piedmont, Giovanni Rosso has also embraced the volcanic soils of Etna in Sicily, staying true to its philosophy that wine must be a pure expression of its terroir.
With a deep respect for tradition and a commitment to innovation, the winery is Equalitas-certified for sustainability, ensuring an unwavering dedication to quality and environmental responsibility. The wine portfolio features 11 labels, including three single-cru Barolos, a Barolo village and classic Barolo, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera, Roero Arneis, and Etna Rosso and Bianco.
We invite you to discover the elegance, depth, and authenticity of Giovanni Rosso wines.
Since 1435, for over six centuries our family has dedicated itself to winemaking, with a passion and commitment that have been handed down from one generation to the next.
The continuing search for new quality horizons has led us to extend our activities on various enological fronts, branching out from our historic roots, at the Castello di Fonterutoli, in the heart of the Chianti Classico, towards two new and promising locations, in the Maremma region of Tuscany and in Zisola, in southeastern Sicily.
We intend to enhance their expressive potential through the application of our winemaking expertise, while respecting the unique characteristics of each of these splendid “terroirs”. Our constant adherence to these values is reflected in the quality of all our wines, satisfying the palates of “connoisseurs” the world over.
We at Petrolo, vine-growers in the Vald’Arno di Sopra, disciples of Nepo da Galatrona, by tradition, culture and education Heraclitian, Dyonysian-Epicurean-Lucretian, Hermetic-Fician, Leonardesque neo-Platonic and Giorgionesque neo-Aristotelian, romantics and revolutionaries, we believe that God is in all things, and that the earth itself is God; and that everything is fertile, vital, wet, crackling, lush. And that man is joined to heaven by means of his divine element and is in all things and all places occupying the core of the ramified and highly complex configuration of animal and vegetable beings: the heart of that infinite affinity of all things which is the Universe-World. And we winemakers, men and women rushing to the future in leaps and bounds, turn back toward the original and the ancient, believing that the revelation of the world breathing was silent and by just being silent and listening to nature, as it appears at intervals, occult and enigmatic, glittering like flashes of memory, guiding us to dynamic future ways of wine from the inside out, from top to bottom, from the future to the past. And we believe that wine, a great wine, is the poetic alchemical metamorphosis of nature into culture. And that only by having a light hand and gentle heart are we able at times to bend nature to our sentiments, to humanize it and making it more beautiful, like a reality imagined in a dream. Wine is nature as dreamed by man, thus enhanced by sentiment; a wine that is great, a great wine, is nature transformed; which only at the moment of drinking elevates itself and its natural essence because it immediately inspires desire and memories. All of nature is in wine, but wine is not only nature. (Luca Sanjust, Translation by Burton Anderson)

Markus Molitor`s wine estate is surrounded by the Wehlener Klosterberg vineyards. In these spectacular steep slate slopes, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc grapes are grown, partly on age-old vines. Uncompromising cultivation by hand in harmony with nature. Late harvesting and strict selection of individual grapes reflect our philosophy. The unique characteristics of the terroir and the multifaceted richness of Mosel wine are brought to life with spontaneous fermentation.
