Alvear, founded in 1729, is one of the oldest family wineries in Spain. The passage of time has not changed its artisan character, which has grown with consistency and without losing sight of its philosophy. Now it is the eighth generation of the family who is in charge of preserving the knowledge acquired and the values of the winery, which, as in the past, does not neglect the future either. Alvear continues to make fortified wines from Montilla, almost 300 years later, with a vision of the future, exploring the roots and the particularities of the Montilla vineyards. In addition to keeping true Spanish oenological jewels and preserving the heritage of the wineries, in 2016 the Tres Miradas Project began, still white wines that seek the expression of the terroir historically called Sierra de Montilla and recognised as a subzone of Superior Quality. These are the highest elevations of the region, with their albariza soils and plots with different orientations. It is where we find the oldest vineyards of the queen variety, Pedro Ximénez, a viticultural heritage that we want to preserve.
Our beginnings go back to 1844, when the family founded a small wine cellar in an old windmill known as La Noria, in the hillside of Castillo de Aguilar de la Frontera. Back then, wine was made in a rudimentary way and commercialized in the family tavern.
In 1922, after some generations, José María Toro Albalá acquired and reformed the town’ sold power plant for the purpose of transferring the wine cellar and storing wines to age them for years until they became oenological gems. Bodegas Toro Albalá was then established, achieving a true feat back at that time and a philosophy preserved to this day.
Perez Barquero was founded in 1905 in the heart of Andalucia (south of Spain)and accounts with extensive experience both in local and foreign markets, being currently present in more than 60 countries on 5 continents.
Quality of our wines has been widely endorsed and we want to highlight 100 points for Solera Fundacional Amontillado 1905 (second time) and 92 points for recently launched G1 Brut Nature to accompany the array of white and fortified wines from Pedro Ximenez grape variety, brandy, vermouth and vinegars. We invite existing customers and visitors to pop in our stand and get some information of our products.
